Fort McMurray: When Hollywood director James Cameron "saw the reclaimed land, he turned around and went back"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

I visited Keith Singer of the Fort McMurray Bumper to Bumper store, who told me what makes this Alberta community so special.

"This is the place for the working man," says the Halifax native.

He says the entrepreneurial spirit sets Fort McMurray apart, as does the fact that most of the population is there by choice.

Singer also sets the record straight about some of the myths spread about "Fort Mac" by Hollywood environmentalists.

(Note: Director James Cameron had a change of heart when he visited, but he's the exception.)

Ezra: Nice truck worth dying for.

Neil Young: you have to retool the lyrics of “Long may you run” – an ode to a fossil fuel guzzling carbon foot print making Pontiac paleo-vehicle which demands oil sands production quotas to supply its continued running, is simply not acceptable given your current ideological bent. Sell Mort and buy a Volt Neil.

Environmentalism is not about the environment.

It is about the cash that they can put in their pockets.

Mr Singer is but one of many of the old stock conservative Nova Scotians that have abandoned this once thriving and proud province for greener pastures. All that’s left after the brain and brawn drain in this sorry part of confederation are come from away retiree socialists and liberals with government pensions making sure that the foreseeable future will be increasing debt and despair.

well after seeing these Alberta clips I may have been persuaded to move but then again the NDP are now in charge so no, I’ve changed my mind and will stay put.

I’m disappointed to find that this article is something of a bait and switch. I wanted to hear about James Cameron’s reaction to the reclaimed land in Fort McMurray and find a single sentence without even a link to get more information; instead, I got mostly a pep talk about how great Fort McMurray is.

So what DID Cameron say about the reclaimed land? Was he satisfied that it had been restored to pristine beauty and there was no problem? That’s the *implication" but I want to be sure.
