It's being a strange couple of weeks in the strange politics of climate change.
In Alberta, new Conservative Premier Jason Kenney has just announced that he will be turfing Notley's carbon tax, but his hiring of a pro carbon tax lobbyist named Mark Cameron to be his chief policy wonk seems incongruous with that goal.
At the federal level, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh wants to get the nation off of fossil fuels, a bizarre suggestion for the MP from Burnaby, British Columbia to make while standing at a podium in Ottawa, Ontario — Singh has a 9000 km round trip commute via airplane to work every single week!
And this wacky week wouldn't be complete without Climate Barbie chiming in:
Liberal environment Minister Catherine McKenna wants to declare a climate emergency, whatever that is. I think it's an emergency if we don't get some nice weather for this May long weekend.
Michelle Stirling from Friends of Science joined me on the show this week to cut through all the left wing fear-mongering and rhetoric. She tells us what a "fossil fuel-free" utopia would really look like and it's not good.
