Fracking ban costs Atlantic Canada $60B in "untapped wealth"

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's show, New Brunswick PC MLA Brian Macdonald joined me to discuss the impact Nova Scotia's fracking ban is having on jobs and revenue in his province.

It's estimated that the ban, enacted by a Liberal Premier, will result in $60 billion worth of untapped wealth for the economically downtrodden region.

Provinces like Nova Scotia and New Brunswick have been the recipients of transfer payments from oil-producing provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan, fracking projects would make them less reliant on money earned by Western Canadian taxpayers.

Why would anyone in the east want to develop anything that they have that could sustain themselves when they can get someone else to supply what they feel entitled to have? The east is nothing more than a leech to western canada. As long as the west allows ottawa to continue the raping & pillaging nothing will ever change. Alberta has been paying for ottawa to buy the eastern liberal vote to keep the east dependent. As far back as the mid 1800’s ottawa has been using the west to support the manufacturing in ontario. If the west was not a source of vote buying currency the liberals would not have the support of the east as they do now.

Oh… And I should once again mention those miles and miles of polluted and garbage strewn beaches, because most people there just “don’t give a damn” anymore?…

Premier Stephen McNeil’s continuing ban on fracking pretty much guarantees a freeze on any economic growth while the Liberals hold power in Nova Scotia… Which is very curious given the economic non-growth of recent decades… Evidently a critical mass of people have now been persuaded that nothing can be done to improve their lot… So they will continue to accept pothole ridden sideroads; derelict houses every mile of those roads, and whole villages of old folks staring out to sea…

I say if you choose to leave prosperity in the ground…you can also leave the transfer payments.
