Free our beer? Government and foreign monopoly will keep tight grip on beer and alcohol sales

Brian LilleyArchive

When Kathleen Wynne told us back in May of 2015 that beer would be sold in Ontario’s grocery stores, we were told this was a going to be a great thing, a huge leap forward for Ontario, but the reality is a lot different than the promise.

I explain why, as with most things that come from progressives, this is not about freedom but control.

Sadly, Ontario remains stuck in the dark ages when it comes to beer and alcohol sales. The province, especially with the Liberals in charge, wants to keep a tight grip on this both for the revenue and simply for the purpose of control. Time for a shake up.

Here in Kitchener, the only grocery store permitted to sell beer is within 100 meters of an existing beer store! Who thought that one up… what kind of convenience is that?

Oh and, Let it go Rae!

I grew up in Montreal where at 10 PM, if the party was going good, you could order a case of beer. A young guy would roll up to your duplex in a three wheeled bike and haul the case up the stairs. For my way of thinking, no big deal. At 17 years of age I joined the army and ended up in Petawawa (a nice place I must add). As a young fellow I found the alcohol restrictions somewhat Victorian but we got along fair enough.

I really can’t understand the way beer sales are “evolving” in Ontario. We have many models around the country where you can pick up a case (24 bottles) at your local store and be done with it, convenience and customer satisfaction. Why all of the stupid rules in Ontario?

Yes kids, and don’t get too excited about weed being legal either. The Liberal lunatic cartels will find a way to make sure their pockets are lined by the huge taxes on it. When all is said and done those who smoke it might as well keep getting it from their buddy around the corner like they’ve always done. It will be cheaper and better quality hands down. Free tokes for all! :D

This is religion ….. The only time I read the words genitals and insertion was in your post. So who is the creep here? I’m not defending Rae, he has his own issues. I think he has been drinking.

I live in the great socialist province of Quebec and will continue bring beers for my friends in Ontario every month, they save between 8 to 10$ on a case of 24, even though Qc has a minimum price set up for beers . what drives people crazy is the chaos when it comes to the return for empties, it becomes a mess you have to go to the beer store and they are few and far apart.

I am sorry. I took everything the wrong way. My apologies .

Well, “This is Religion”—- you wanna know something—— We were talking about beer—-just beer—- nothing to agitate yourself about . But for YOU——— “This is Religion” Fucking idiot. What did I derail -boy?

Rae Fraser, I don’t actually give a shit about your politics and religion. I don’t need an association with you on matters related to the Premier’s vagina. Way to derail the cause, jackass.

Interesting the Mill St. brewing sign in the background getting some free government PR in that photo op – Ontario’s proto craft brewer which was bought by the corporate beer giant Molsons to fool GTA yuppies into thinking they are supporting small local brewers – the Ont. Liquor regulation monopoly was constructed to protect and keep a captive marketfor it’s clients the big brewers – things will never change in that backward province – corporate cronyism since day one.

There is nothing that a Liberal ever offers people that is worth a dime, one never comes out with a win or benefit when it has been dealt and controlled by Liberals or Socialist style Governments!

How does this work again ? Your Religion is your Politics. Sweet Jesus. Poor baby. Tell you what—honey. My politics is Not my religion.

I’d really to share this post on my social media pages because I believe the government has been treating Canadians as children over liquor for decades. But when half the comments section revolves around what size bottle Wynne should insert into her partners genitals, I just can’t do it. I don’t want to be associate my politics with the kind of creeps who get off on that kind of speculation. Sorry Ezra, I know “free speech” and all, but unless you can reign in the creeps, my support for you ends at skimming your articles for personal interest. Not sharing forward.

The list of people that admit to voting for these miscreants grows smaller and smaller everyday. Conversely , the list of people that claim to have voted against them now exceeds the population of the Province.

From the size of her Partner——I am thinking wine bottles——-BIG wine bottles.

Ontario lives in the dark ages! The whole country lives in the dark ages and will continue to do so, as long as we are led by the Progressive Left.

I do not know if Wynne drinks Beer. But I bet she could put the empty bottles to good use. lol.

What a joy it is to visit relatives in a small town in Quebec. Alcohol is sold at the SAQ government store until 6:00 p.m, beer and wine at the IGA grocery store till 9:00 p.m and after that at the local variety stores. Instead Ontarians will be able to buy beer only, in 6 packs or singles and at a few large supermarkets. I am embarrassed!

Sales aren’t the problem with booze. Thieving government taxes are.

Strange how the Libs and NDP always purport themselves a being defenders the ‘Little Guy’—-when all they ever really do is give more Power to big Unions that can only exist if they have Big Companies to fleece and Blackmail.

Any way you look at it Brian, you buy beer, the government makes money. It’s as if we don’t pay enough in taxes or something.
