As Hurricane Harvey ravages Texas, the politicization of this natural disaster has also gained momentum, starting with critiques of Melania Trump’s shoes.
One of the worst examples of this loony left behaviour was a tweet from (now former) University of Tampa professor Kenneth Story.
Story expressed glee that Hurricane Harvey was causing carnage in Houston, musing that it was “karma” due to Texas voting Republican in the presidential election.
But not only did his tweet lack empathy, the very premise was wrong:
Harris County, which includes the City of Houston, actually went for Hillary, not Trump.
Alas, the tweet resulted in the professor losing his job, and while I’m not in favour of seeing someone fired for expressing their lunacy in the Twitterverse, unfortunately his apology was too little, too late.
In this day and age of the Internet and instant acts of stupidity, many disasters are man-made.
