Gagnier's "How to Lobby Us" memo shows they're the same old lobbying Liberals

Brian LilleyArchive

Have the Liberals really changed their spots or are they the same old lobbyists running campaigns (possibly government) based on their clients?

Liberal campaign co-chair Dan Gagnier, had to step down as a result of his multi-page memo to TransCanada outlining how they could effectively lobby a new Liberal or NDP government for a pipeline.

Initially the Liberals defended him saying his advice to TransCanada had "nothing to do with his volunteer role on the campaign." A Liberal spokeswoman, (one that had worked for scandal plagued Kathleen Wynne in the past), said he was just offering advice.

They defended him then fired him --- because they were caught.

On CBC’s Power and Politics, Liberal Susan Smith said there were plenty of volunteer lobbyists on the Liberal team. But they're not allowed to be there. The NDP and the Conservatives have said you can be a lobbyist or you can work on our campaign, you cannot do both.

Telling your client how to lobby the party you are the co-campaign chair of, does smack of dirty politics.

The Liberals washed their hands of Gagnier but is that the end of the story?

A report by Macleans says the Liberals knew about Gagnier’s work with TransCanada for months. They knew he was advising them on how to get their pipeline through Quebec. They claim they thought he was just advising on how to deal with the provincial government, not a new federal government run by Justin Trudeau.

Do you believe it? I don't.

So – you guys are now suggesting that Trudeau knowingly favoured rapprochement with the oil industry?
Well, that should make Ezra HAPPY. What are you bitching about?

http://o.canada.com/news/conservative-mp-invited-lobbyists-to-fundraiser. Look at what this dickhead Adler did – invited 30 lobbyists to his party. But Harper is n charge – know one asked the question what was his involvement in this. If Harps is in control then he should be aware of everything going on. So, its ok for Harper and his band of merry men but when someone else does a similar thing to a lesser degree – holy shit. Send in the hounds. Take your blinders of people. It is part of politics. Oh, and we deserve an honest answer from Harper on the Duffy affair. So far he has just lied through his ass.

Here is the interesting question that nobody seems to be asking: "What was Trudeau’s involvement in this? He has worked closely with Gagnier throughout the campaign and as leader of the party must have been aware of every communication from his people at this level, so “What did Trudeau know and how long did he know it?”

Many Liberal bottom feeders will claim that Trudeau was not involved in the sending of this email and so bears no responsibility. Well if Trudeau is in control then he should be aware of any important communications made in the name of the party and there is nothing to indicate that he did not know about this one. Either that or Trudeau is nothing but a front, a happy, laughing ignortant who is being used as a front man by whomever is behind the throne.

So which is it? Is Trudeau lying by claiming that he knew nothing about this important email from one of his and his party’s most trusted lieutenants, or is he an empty headed drama teacher who is being used by the real power elite of the Liberal party who hide behind Trudeau’s puffy hair?

Canadians deserve an honest answer not more obfuscation and outright lies.

If the Liberals win this election, the left will be in control of all major social elements of our society: the government, the judiciary, the mass media (except for THEREBEL.MEDIA), and the education system at all levels. It will be the beginning of the end of Canada as a viable, civilized society. Social stupidity at all levels will rule the day until the end…

They’re the same old lobbying Liberals mixed with the new lunatic left Liberals. Unfortunately, it’s the lunatic left (led by Potboy) who have control of the party now, so besides the usual shenanigans, we can look forward to lunatic left government if they win on Oct. 19. You know, just like in Ontario provincially. Get out the conservative vote!

I note it took four days for the Rebel to run with this story. Professional courtesy, I assume, since Ezra was also a paid lobbyist for the oil industry.
It does raise a question, though. Why is it ok for industry to pay for this service if it’s not okay for lobbyists to provide it?

Same old Lieberals! Nothing has changed except the talking puppet at the top! Brace for theft of taxpayer monies on a scale that will make Adscam look like an accounting error should the Lieberals gain Gov’t! Woe Canada!

You want to know what Mulcair’s policy is? Read the works of Carl Marx.
commented 2015-10-17 09:44:38 -0400
Vlad – you to are 100% wrong. There are no laws in Canada against lobbyists being involved in political campaigns. Shall I reference Karen Sheppard the commissioner of lobbying. They are allowed to be there and all the parties engage them as advisors during the campaign. He stepped back from the campaign because the optics were bad but legally he did nothing wrong. Quite the litmus test though.

The only other thread is that Harper wants a minority in power or opposition because the global economy is so bad that he’d like to dump it in “stupid fuck troodo’s” lap, much like Hudak dumped the $0.3TRILLION Ontario debt back into pig-wynne’s lap and threw that election (100,000 layoffs, so don’t vote for me). The media party were all over that like a herd of fat kids attacking a smarties truck.

Here’s the litmus test from above: "Liberal Susan Smith said there were plenty of volunteer lobbyists on the Liberal team. But they’re not allowed to be there. "

So the liberal pigs are caught, again. Harper can run ads all weekend talking up this liberal crime and that macleans sat on this story for months and pose the question, ready for ADSCAM ACT 2 Canada???
commented 2015-10-17 08:56:42 -0400

The real question is how Canadian voters are this fucking stupid to vote in an already “ignore the laws” communist pig CAMP FUCKING COUNSELOR/DRAMA TEACHER over an incumbent and degreed economist?

If Gagnier is being paid by a private corporation while he is “volunteering” for Trudeau’s campaign, shouldn’t his salary be considered a political donation. Looks like a nice way around the fund raising and reporting rules to me.

I find it interesting that Mulcair wants people to vote for him so he can turf Harper. Not a word about party policy or platform.

I find it interesting that Junior is asking for a majority, when it appears only the Nanos poll puts him in the lead… but he talks out of the side of his mouth worse than Chretien did when it comes to policy.

I find it interesting that it appears only Harper is attempting to let Canadians keep money in their wallets and bank accounts.

and green tories and yellow tories and maybe even magenta tories. A true tory believes in small government. Get out of my bedroom. Loosen police control. Free market. Harps is none of that. In fact he is the antithesis of a true tory. Give your head a shake. I do like his hair though.

Peter – I would say he is confident that the Liberals are going to win. Shows a bit of balls actually. Now I wonder if the liberals will show any balls when dealing with Putin? And Peter – he WASNT A CANDIDATE. He was an advisor and his real job – wow – he worked in oil. Surprise. The clown car is out in full force tonight.

Chris S said, “The information Gagnier provided could apply equally to any new government.”

Except that he is a Liberal candidate, so that limits it to the Liberals, doesn’t it.
commented 2015-10-16 21:56:17 -0400
Has anyone here actually read the emails, where Gagnier responds to TransCanada’s request for information? They read like a grade 10 civics lesson. Tame compared to the brown envelopes of Mulroney’s Airbus Affair, or the influence peddling of Macdonald’s Pacific Scandal. The information Gagnier provided could apply equally to any new government.

Jadon R. asked, “You classify what he did as lobbying? Really?”

He sent a letter to TranCanada Pipeline outlining how to lobby a Liberal government. What else could you possibly call it? How else could you redefine that?

And as far as “how” conservative you are, there are red tories and blue tories and all shades in between.
commented 2015-10-16 20:48:00 -0400
You classify what he did as lobbying? Really? I think you lack an understanding of lobbying. Funny I am considered pretty conservative by my peer group but I come out here and get called a leftie. Makes me laugh.
commented 2015-10-16 20:15:34 -0400
Jason R, like the usual leftie, you miss the whole point. Dan Gagnier was lobbying TransCanada Pipeline before they even might win the election! That, Jason R., is what is wrong about this. Why do you miss this vital point?
commented 2015-10-16 19:38:20 -0400
No, the CPC aren’t near so bad. Mulcair says no pipeline has been built in 10 years. WHAAAT? Trudeau doesn’t need the job. He just wants celebrity status like his parents. He’s a puppet for Chrétien and Martin. Trudeau says (aw fuck, who cares) Vote conservative to salvage our traditional way of life and sanity

Brian, I don’t believe it either!

Who cares if for lucky Putin will go nuclear, knowing that a jerk off liberal even has a chance of coming close in this election Canada doesn’t deserve saving especially the morons in it

He deserved to go for his transgression but this clearly shows http://thetyee.ca/News/2012/12/05/Pipeline-Lobby/ that the Harper Government is 100% the same. Can’t excuse one and condemn the other Brian – get your facts straight.

liberal pigs have always been considered good liars largely because the shitstream Canadian media runs road block (let’s call them the liberal dogs) when things go wrong.

This is why ADSCAM broke through the US before Canadian shitstream media picked it up. Can’t trust Canadian shitstream media.

And as for the virgin in the whorehouse, it’s the whores (you can include maggie in this, but you don’t have to) in the whore house claiming virginity. ROT IN HELL PIG TROODO YOU DIM WITTED FUCK!!!

The lefist narritive has been that the evil “corporations” have had the Tories as their schills….why pray tell would corporations not support the party that is actually in power?….for all of the time the liberals were in power….the evil “corporations” and the liberals were in bed together….and that is what is going to happen again.
