Gilles Duceppe sets a "coalition trap" for Liberals, NDP

Brian LilleyArchive

Gilles Duceppe is back, and he says he's open to forming a coalition with any party -- as long as it ensures "the best deal for Quebec."

So who will that that "anyone" end up being?

I'm sure about this: It won't be the Conservative Party.

I look back at recent history to get an idea of how Trudeau and Mulcair might react.

This may very well propel the Bloc back into a Quebec based power gambit, as Quebeckers seem to vote for anyone who promises to shakedown the rest of Canada for more monies. As for the R.O.C. a “coalition” could be a death rattle for any Party entertaining the idea. Problem is, once the “regressive, progressive communists” seize power, how do you remove them? The Lieberals are desparate right now, so I can see them considering this idea. Mulcair? The Dippers may see this as a way of maintaining some of their Quebec base.

I wonder how much the Conservatives paid to get Duceppe back? You just can’t write material like this. The conservatives have a PERFECT commercial, staring Gilles Duceppe.
Gotta love politics!

I don’t think Mulcair will even consider a coaition with Trudeau because he is going to do better than Trudeau and he won’t want to share the power that gives him with his leftist rival.

Unlike Brian, I think the Conservatives might consider a coalition with NDP in a minority election result just to disempower the Liberals.

But Ducette? No, he’s courting only progressives despite his nod at equity and inclusiveness.

Jill Doucebag – what a used car sales pig. This pig will do a fine job taking up liberal and enn-dee-pee votes.
