Manny Montenegrino: GM Oshawa plant the latest victim of Trudeau's anti-business agenda

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Manny Montenegrino joined me to discuss how the anti-business agenda of the Trudeau government relates to General Motors closing their century-old plant in Oshawa, Ontario.

Manny explains that business leaders saw what Trudeau did to the energy sector, with carbon taxes and onerous new environmental regulations, and realized that Canada is not a competitive place for business.

Trump has cut taxes below Canadian levels, rejected carbon taxes, and kept America out of the UN Paris Climate Accord. With a neighbor like that, how can Trudeau expect to attract jobs?

Correction, in my replication of Manny’s disappointing tweet, I said it started with, “Dear CPC member’s can you answer this question?” when he said “Dear PPC member’s can you answer thus question?”

Cost of doing Business in Canada re Car Companies:

I hear this everywhere, but compared to who ? Mexico ?
This statement doesn’t add up when comparing to US wages.
1. Canadian Car makers are paying the majority of their expenses with a Can. Dollar; that means a 25% saving to Employers.
2. Canadian Employers don’t have to pay for Healthcare, free for everyone, right? That arguably is a 10 to 15% advantage over the US.

I would love to run a Company that has at least a 35% head start on my competition.

That is exactly what happens when a kid who is still wet behind the ears and thinks he knows it all, is elected to run the country by fools who are easily led by such crap.

Ron Voss, Manny has good reason to fear Max. He could put Scheer out of a job. Manny’s tweets aren’t helping make or keep CPC friends.

About cars though, I was reading that crossovers are more popular, hence cutting back on some lines – ties into what you were saying Paul?
If this closure was bandied about 4 years ago you would think a responsible government would have at the very least made the best trade deal with the U.S. instead of hobbling itself with a refusal to play fair. Cut off their nose to spite their face.

Its not too big to fail at this point. A bail out only pushes the pain down the road if nothing else changes. Besides, didn’t GM tell Ford when he called them, that no bail out could convince them to stay at this point? Companies don’t go south for one reason. “Other domino’s will fall” because – cost of doing business in Canada. Why wouldn’t they move back to Trump land?

GM’s closing in 2018 was announced 4+ years ago. Why is everyone so surprised now?

Plus the vehicles they produce are not selling and vehicle inventories are excessive. It doesn’t make sense to build more when no one wants them. This would be a good time to close the place.

Ford and Chrysler are downsizing as well due to poor sales on passenger cars. The domestic 3 do produce cars that are hard to look at and perform poorly. FACT!

BTW – It takes 4 years to launch a new model after the initial concept has been approved and a business case built and presented and approved by the suits.

A tweet by Manny Montenegrino yesterday:

“Dear CPC member’s can you answer thus question?
About 200 CPC MPs worked side by side with Max for 12 years, some under him when he was a Senior Minister – not 1 decided to join Max after deciding 3 months ago – why not? Do they know something you don’t”.

Sleazy innuendo instead of taking on Max’s policy ideas. Changes my thinking of Manny who comes across as an arrogant know it all. By the way, Manny was wrong about his prediction about the NAFTA negotiations.

Maybe if the traitor tot turns the plant into a mosque he will be re-elected. Canadians that voted for him are that intellectually challenged.

The days if politicians and union bosses running the auto companies with threats and intimidation are long past. That paradigm was why we ended up with bankrupt companies begging for taxpayer bailouts in the first place.
Lots of open warehouse space in Oshawa and Hamtramck so why doesn’t somebody start an internet based business as a rival to Amazon?

Another week, another crisis, to use terminology the MSM uses with respect to Trump, the walls are closing in on our hapless PM. Now if only we had a Conservative leader who could capitalize on this fiasco.

I am coming to the conclusion that Trudeau is not exactly the person he was making out to be when he campaigned in the last election, ‘ahem’. All he is doing is dragging Canadians down to the level of the deadbeats who he is allowing in to, what used to be Canada.

Remember all the Canadians who fought in two world wars, giving their lives in a battles for freedom? Well now it is time for this generation of Canadians to fight for freedom; Their own.
If the enemy is not stopped now, then perhaps tomorrow will be to late.

The enemy are Trudeau’s ‘String Pullers’, Trudeau their puppet.

No rail cars can be built without gender equity on the job site (C-69). Equal numbers of genders. Some may change gender while on site, this will require a government multi million dollar study by a panel made up of gender equitable staff. Some of the panel staff may change gender resulting in another panel being formed to……………………….. This in turn is job creation and the cost of a single tanker one billion dollars publicly funded of course.
This is to ensure Saudi oil keeps flowing to Canada carbon tax free, in tankers (uncle Pauls) flagged in another country to avoid Canadian taxes.
commented 2018-11-27 12:03:42 -0500
Here is an idea maybe Oshawa can retrofit their plant and start making rail car tankers, because comrade Notley figures the government needs more tanker cars to move oil because these provincial and federal idiots kiboshed pipelines with their nimrod virtue signaling policies!! And did the climate change knobs win,I don’t think so let’s put more tankers on the tracks-wonder which of the two has a higher emission footprint!! You should see the number of rail car tankers pulling into Edmonton’s refineries every week. Notley and the imperial Dick Head can shove their climate change, gender bending,LBGTQ123DDTTcc policies up their asses!! Socialist stupidity at its finest!!

Turdo,s idea of job creation. Leaky wooden boat (Canada,s economy).
Hire people to drill holes in bottom of boat. Add more people to the boat (fakugees)
Hire one person to bail water from boat with broken tea cup, used tea cup to save land fill space. Lecture people on board about how the carbon tax will save them.

As the boat sinks he tells them it will balance itself. The public is concerned about the rising water turdo, er ahh I too am concerned but it is caused by climate change and the previous Harper government.
