41-year-old Muhammad al-Maghrabi was publicly executed at point blank range in front of thousands of people live and across Yemen on TV after he raped and murdered a 3-year-old girl.
According to Metro, al-Maghrabi admitted to raping the girl in his hut to the south of the capital city on the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
The NY Post reports that a policeman fired five bullets from an assault rifle into Muhammad al-Maghrabi as he lay handcuffed on the ground in Sanaa’s Tahrir Square, after a judge read out the death sentence.
Yahya al-Matari, the father of the girl felt rejuvenated after the execution. “This is the first day in my life,” he told reporters. “I am relieved now.”
