“Protest vote”: What the Green Party win in BC's federal by-election really means

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

The Green Party won a by-election yesterday in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

I know Nanaimo pretty well — back five years ago, we covered the strange politics of that unusual town, when the city council banned a Christian group from renting the publicly owned convention centre.

The Rebel crowdfunded a lawyer to sue; and then we helped campaign against the corrupt city council, and wouldn’t you know it — the city threw out the bums! It was a template for the campaigns we do here all the time now at The Rebel.

I also go there every summer for a vacation. It’s a funny mix: retired people, including from Alberta; hippies who like Vancouver Island; working class folks, including, frankly, some tough characters; the Hells Angels hang out there, which is a bit creepy.

I tell you that because it’s an unusual place. It’s on an island, which means it’s going to be a bit eccentric in its identity.

So I have to say, I’m completely unsurprised by the result of yesterday's federal by-election in Nanaimo:

The Green Party won.

Specifically, Paul Manly, the son of a former NDP MP. He wanted to run as an NDPer once, but he was deemed to radical even for them.

He seemed to share his dad’s radicalism against Israel — his dad actually tried to run an Israel naval blockade screening out terrorists from the port of Gaza. So he found a natural home in the Green Party.

Manly will be on the new Green MP. Obviously it’s a rejection of Trudeau; a premonition of what he’ll face in B.C.; I think it’s fall-out for the Jody Wilson-Raybould scandal, but Trudeau will read it as a need to be even tougher on oil and pipelines.

But it’s also a story about how radical the Green Party is — like the Greens elsewhere, they’re the most radical on Israel. It wouldn’t surprise me one day if Omar Khadr ran for office — but he’d probably choose the Green Party.

The Green Party will take anyone. Well, not anyone:

The president of the Green Party of Canada was a Jew, who was drummed out of the party for being too, you know, Jewy. Too pro-Israel.

Some of the hard-left hippies in Nanaimo voted because they knew all this. But most of Nanaimo, I think, is a hard working town. The port, the airport, tourism, real estate, and the industrial jewel in the crown, this gorgeous paper mill just outside of the city.

So I don’t think they’re all freaky lefties, or that most people in Nanaimo care that much about Israel one way or another.

I really don’t think it’s a vote for green policies, either, but of course the entire Media Party, and probably Trudeau himself, will take that lesson from it. They’ll go harder on their carbon tax, even though gas starts at $1.52 a litre for the cheap stuff in Nanaimo.

No, last night's vote was a rejection of the establishment, not an endorsement of Paul Manly’s policies.

It’s a form of Trumpism, you know.

It also shows that it’s not the right in this country that has the nuts, the extremists, the anti-Semites. I think it’s the party of the left. The Liberals to a degree; the NDP for sure; but the Green Party to their core.

And strategically speaking, mathematically speaking, the Green Party is going to harm the Liberals very much. That’s a good thing electorally.

But they’re poisoning the public discourse. They’re normalizing left-wing hate and anti-Semitism. They’re normalizing treating terrorists as fine citizens.

That’s not good for any of us.

NEXT: One of our favourite guests, lawyer Manny Montenegrino, joins me to talk about Canada/China relations.

FINALLY: Your messages to me!

A day late and a dollar short, but I can add that the NDP candidate in Nanaimo ran a very lame campaign – seemed to think he was running for a provincial seat, as his radio ads kept banging on about housing and healthcare, both of which are provincial responsibilities, and that “the NDP has a plan” without admitting that they are completely irrelevant at the federal level. Where’s a devout leftist to go? Green, of course. I was gratified to see the CPC candidate come in second (though I voted PPC, of course).

“I don’t know how that sloppy-drunk douchebag May can show her crone face in public after that disgusting, sloppy drunk performance…oh right, the left has no respect for anything, including having no self respect…”

And have the attention span of a gnat, they long forgot about that incident no doubt. Here are some reminders:

An oleaginous Jihadi-Justin-Groper!
Those words evoke a gross and disgusting visual…but are very appropriate too, and you’ve run enough clips of him being his gross and disgusting self, that we know how accurate the descriptor is!!
Ezra, you’re no Conrad Black or Rex Murphy, but you have a fine and nuanced sense of the lexicon, which I for one appreciate!

“Canadians hate Trudeau”
Truer words were never spoken!
The FNMP (Fake News Media Party) loves Trudeau.
Oh Canada…

I don’t know how that sloppy-drunk douchebag May can show her crone face in public after that disgusting, sloppy drunk performance…oh right, the left has no respect for anything, including having no self respect…what an embarrassing joke this country has become.
If ever a country was more sorely in need of major reform, that’d be Canada today!

If one word describes what Jihadi-Justin-Groper and his LPC clown-show/FNMP (Fake News Media Party) fellow conspirators have perpetrated, the word would be TREASON!
Maybe Manny could publish the entire list…

I’m glad to hear there will be legitimate journalists covering Mark Norman’s trial, well, a legitimate journalist anyway, now I won’t be in the dark about it, or lied to.
I wonder when the rest of Canada is going to get a clue…

- Trudeau is saying that the election of the Green party in Nanaimo was proof that Canadians are embracing climate change “action”. I guess they just didn’t vote Liberal because they’re a bunch of While nationalists. Many Liberal supporters in Nanaimo likely went to other parties or just stayed home. The NDP likely lost this seat because many of those who normally support them had to get gas on the way to the polls.

- Is there a country in the world that the Liberals haven’t pissed off yet? The Liberals are living in a shrinking echo chamber. This causes them to become more & more out of touch with reality (not that they had a lot contact with reality in the first place.) Trump didn’t see Canada as a problem until the Trudeau Liberals made Canada a problem.

As a point of interest, I have just been talking to my old Army Buddy in the UK and he tells me that Britain is, right now, in the process of handing over control of the British Army to the EU. This, despite the fact that Theresa May is about to be kicked out of office, will be the end of Britain and the British White Race.
With Trudeau in power, the UK will not be able to call on Canada for help. Not this time. Only one hope left…………….The invasion of Britain by the USA

There is nothing green about the green party. It’s a Marxist Leninist collection of lunatics who are hell bent on destroying the capitalist free market system under the guise of environmentalism. Even the UN has admitted it.

U.N. Official Reveals Real Reason Behind Warming Scare

At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.

“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.

I think we’re witnessing the end of the traditional parties.
-——————————————
What we are witnessing is the Three Pillars of Leftiedom.
1. Leftist never learn form their mistakes. (Voting Left in spite of BC leftist governments continually doing nothing but screw up).
2. Leftists never learn from other people’s mistakes.) Voting left in spite of other provinces’ leftist governments continually doing nothing but screw things up.)
All because:
3. They refuse to exercise discernment.

RON SHEA
I guess like America, Canada will have to have four years of Trudeau and four years of Scheer, to make sure our country suffers even more than it already has and hits rock bottom.
-—————————————-
Indeed, Ron. The one way most people learn is through prolonged personal pain, if they learn at all. Or, as William Aberhart said, “If the people haven’t suffered enough it is their God-given right to suffer some more”.

The Three Pillars of Leftiedom hold rock solid.

If one is going to try to categorize Trudeau by comparing him to some fantasy Character, it would be Perter Seller’s Inspector Clouseau. Think about it. Self-importance, arrogance, narcissism, combined with total bugling incompetence. The difference is Trudeau isn’t fantasy. We have to live through his decisions, and unlike Inspector Clouseau, he isn’t funny.

Is there anymore cruises with the Rebel since Holland Amarican Lines cut off the Rebel because they are lame?
commented 2019-05-07 23:19:36 -0400
So according to the vote numbers, almost 75% of Nanaimo voted for leftist parties and after everything he has done, almost 5000 people voted for Trudeau. Since the Conservatives under Scheer are left of center as well, that makes it about 100% (other than the woke, politically aware crowd of the PPC), that voted left.
The Americans elected Barack Obama for 8 years; two consecutive terms. And patriots watched in horror as he dissected that nation. I guess like America, Canada will have to have four years of Trudeau and four years of Scheer, to make sure our country suffers even more than it already has and hits rock bottom.

What does a Green victory in Nanaimo really mean? It means that leftists hate Canada. That they love gullible, uninformed voters. That they love socialism. And it also means that you cannot fix stupid. The Green party should be dissolved and considered an illegal entity in Canada as it is full of Communists and anti-Semites and its leader supports terrorists.

I hope Jason Kenny cuts off all oil and gas supplies from Alberta to British Columbia.

Sounds like it’s time for Kenny to turn the taps off.

Robert, I was eating when I read your comment, so I didn’t catch on right away. With parts of BC voting Green and even going further left than the NDP, the timing is perfect to slow down the Oil flow from Alberta. Great strategy, do it now before the main population area votes Green in October.

Keith, if you notice, that’s the way Trudeau’s good friend and comrade, Macron in France was going before the Yellow Vests started rallying there. He thought he was going to take over where Merkel had left off. For a while, he was even wanting to form an E.U. army. In their own minds, these globalists all think they are saviours of the human race.

Could be Andrew, its time for people to pay attention.
commented 2019-05-07 22:14:51 -0400
Elizabeth May is too special to even comment on. I think the Green party will be the shell the real radical leftist nasties inhabit. Those not paying proper attention will put their vote there as a protest. Pay attention kiddies, the tree huggers are just a front for that party going forward. Look deeper. You do not want to trust those extremists with your vote, not if you want to protect your home and native land.
Manly is not an appropriate choice. I wonder if the good people of Nanaimo know his background.
commented 2019-05-07 22:09:10 -0400
- Riding clearly ripe for protest vote
- Bernier got just over 3%.

The CPC grew by a few percent over 2015.

So, the anti-Trudeau surge is real. But much as in PEI, as in NB, it doesn’t seem to be benefiting the Conservatives very much. I think we’re witnessing the end of the traditional parties.

The more Muslims that Trudeau invites in to Canada the more the hate for Jews will become apparent. In less wise Canadians, Muslims are associated with knife slashing, throat cutting and hanging Gays.
People are under the impression that if they declare a hatred of Jews that it will be ‘kosher’ for them with the Muslims.
I would remind Christian people, Muslims hate You more than they hate Jewish people….Christian blood, Jewish blood, it’s all the same to them, as long as it is on the ground.

Canada really needs to send Chrystia Freeland back to the U.S. She is no more Canadian than Ignatif . Just an opportunist here to further her globalist aspirations. She has NO allegiance to Canada. We are nothing but a stepping stone for that bottom feeding scum sucking slag. Her name calling is of everyday Canadians is vilification undeserved. She is hateful and a trouble maker and Canada is worse off for her in it. Look at her ancestry. She is the spawn of supremacists, and she dares to slander us.
Chrystia Freeland is definitely part of the problem and she needs to be turfed. Russia has banned her, and so should we.

People must beware of protest votes. That’s what Albertans did and we paid dearly for our folly. It’s why I’d love to vote for Maxime Bernier but I’m afraid of splitting the conservative vote. I want the fopdoodle trounced so thoroughly that it’ll make the rout of Brian Mulroney look like a tie vote.

I sincerely hope that no more Trudeaus run for office in federal elections. Every time one does, it takes years after they’re gone to clean up the mess that they created while they were in office. By now it should be painfully obvious that Justin Trudeau is no statesman. He barely knows what he’s doing as prime minister.
