Green hypocrisy: Victoria, Montreal dump raw sewage -- while condemning "dirty" oil sands, pipelines

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

"Progressive" places like Montreal and Victoria love the planet so much they're anti-pipeline -- so why are they pro-raw sewage?

It's true: In these "green" cities -- including Elizabeth May's own riding -- they dump sewage into the water while lecturing the rest of Canada about "dirty" oil sands and pipelines.

READ Ezra Levant's bestselling books debunking environmentalist propaganda against the energy industry:
Groundswell: The Case for Fracking and Ethical Oil: The Case for Canada's Oil Sands

Alberta’s NDP is using a fake "public survey" to push climate change policy.

My God ,what a race we have run, debating this issue.. And does anybody on the national level once again asked how anybody presuming to be “Prime Minister” of our nation also hold “French” citizenship???

This is hardly news. I think I first read about Victoria dumping raw sewage in the ocean in a newspaper 10 or 15 years ago.

Mulcair must have shares in some green company. He wants to make money like Al gore did.

Funny how it is no big deal when the so called green movement pollutes , or dumps raw sewage, but look over there look how bad they are, typical green movement mentality, do as they say not as they do. Funny here in alberta we were the first to have the wind turbines, and world class sewage treatment, the city of calgary has been making power from methane for decades, before it was the trendy thing to do, greens are always decades behind, because all they do is bitch and moan and offer no solutions. Here they are on here trying to justify that it is okay to dump raw sewage in the ocean. WOW Just imagine if this was done in alberta the howls of outrage from the main stream media and the green movement. The green movement is about $$$$$$ always has been always will be.

Thanks Darren. The media and others were stupid to believe or deceptive to give the impression that logs of shit were being tossed into the ocean. No damnit! There are screens that reduce whatever is coming out to particles. So no, Victoria is NOT flowing poop into the Pacific.

Well that is great news Andy. I for one don’t want to pay $500 (minimum estimate) for what has working fine for at least 100 years.

Ken: Justin is so generous with our money…what a kind man!

Montreal, in the days of mayor Drapeau, spent all its money on bread and circuses like EXPO 67 and the Olympics rather than on infrastructure. Now Trudeau promises to pick up the cost of fixing Montreal’s sewers. This is very generous of him.

Shit from Montreal doesn’t stink. You don’t believe me! " Ask Helga or Justin".

Glenn… Useless yes, but welcome in many homes around here where granola and grass fumes permeate the air, and “9/11 Was An Inside Job” bumper stickers adorn the cars in the driveway…

Nobody interested in commenting on our useless NDP MPs of the area?

Brinkman said: “SHEILA GUNN REID beat me out of a job I applied for so….” Yeesh! Get over it already! Quit whining! Clearly a niche has not been found yet, albeit it appears not to be The Rebel! Lefty thoughts, whilst interesting and sometimes entertaining seem not in sync with this site. Perhaps a concerted effort towards a lefty organization would have more success……..

Hey Charles!… I beg to differ… I’ll stack the “ancient hippies” around Sooke/Shirley to any around Nelson… And I’ve been to both… Some of the hippies in Sooke/Shirley came straight off the 70s “nudie” beach at Sombrio, and down from the “tree people’s” commune on Otter Point Road… All are still here, now turning highway STOP signs into STOP HARPER signs for the upcoming election… So very clever eh?…

CHARLES WHITE – Just so you know I’ve flagged your comments as personal attacks, spam and accusations of criminal activity here on the Rebel Media – If you feel strongly that I am stalking SHEILA GUNN REID and you fear for her safety I suggest you contact the R.C.M.P. – I’ve taken copies of you comments for legal purposes – I would suggest you stop making false accusations and apologize to both SHEILA GUNN REID and myself…

With respect to the story, first an error on Mr. Levant’s part. Not all of B.C. is considered a greeny lotus land. The NE and the interior of BC have the real people working real jobs who pay the taxes to support lotus land in BC.

It also reminds me of when my son lived in both Nelson (capital for ancient hippies) and Castlegar, plus working in Taylor. Hippy-ville had all these green plans that were back to the earth like composting, reduced garbage pick-up, and the like. Castlegar had bear-aware programmes of how not to attract bear through composting, and by having regular garbage pick-up. Guess which city destroyed the most bears as being dangerous nuisances…hint, it wasn’t the blue collar town, with hunters that understood nature.

Richard Brinkman posted: "SHEILA GUNN REID beat me out of a job I applied for so…. "

He is man enough to admit he has penis envy for the better person who received the job. However, instead of stalking her, maybe he should look at other news out-lets that will appreciate what he has to offer. I don’t think those of us who have been passed over for a job has ever stalked the successful candidate the way Richard is doing…scary.

There are three different currents off Victoria where the outfall pipe ends that effectively break up and diffuse the waste so it literally becomes fertilizer and ocean compost, if you will. The sewage treatment demanded by the province and trumpeted by left wingnuts is just cosmetics to keep our US neighbours happy and does not actually address the non-biodegradable materials in the waste, and is literally flushing time and money down the toilet.
For the record, a lot of us Victorians aren’t sanctimonious hypocrite Greenie Weenies, those seem to be new residents more often than not, and fully support pipelines, petroleum resource development and exportation, and common sense environmentalism.

What? Jason, you don’t have links to these supposed “facts”? But you declared it as a fact! Certainly you must know where these “facts” are, so we can all read them!

Jason Bertucci said, “but the fact is the pacific ocean does a fine job flushing and filtering the raw sewage.”

Oh, wonderful! Can you provide the link to “the fact” that the Pacific ocean does a fine job of flushing and filtering the raw sewage, please? I would be most interested in reading that / those scientific studies that prove this.

Not so fast Jason…. “Actually” the CRD is NOT going ahead with a long overdue sewage treatment plant and things are up in the air – or should I say “still flushing” – since Esquimalt’s municipal council refused to change the zoning for McLoughlin Point to permit a treatment plant to be built there… The CRD ran to the provincial government to try to override Esquimalt’s wishes, but unlike Ontario, where the provincial government ran roughshod over local councils wishing to nix wind farms in their backyards, the province respected that local government’s decision… And while the Greenies still try to perpetuate “the ocean does a fine job of flushing” myth, Victoria’s neighbours in Washington State certainly do not agree and are demanding action, as is our federal government which has imposed a 2023 deadline on the Green City with the Poo Pants Bottom…

Sewage vs Oil! Perhaps we could learn something from the Limey’s. Six months ago, London Transport announced that was successfully running a fleet of Double Decker Buses, on untreated human waste. All I can say is, they must have a good scrubber on the exhaust systems, or perhaps a sign, “Tail Pipe. Stand Clear”
commented 2015-10-05 14:46:01 -0400
Actually the CRD is going ahead with the sewage treatment plants, but the fact is the pacific ocean does a fine job flushing and filtering the raw sewage. The staggering cost of building the sewage plants will add $500 to everyone’s property tax bill! I for one would prefer to let the ocean do its work.

What’s the downside in continuing to attacking the energy industry. Absolutely none, and that’s why they’ll continue to do it until its destroyed.

The core element of green socialism is hypocrisy – all the other dogmas (narrative spinning, crisis hysteria, cooking stats, lying, deception and phony moralism) are all defense mechanisms to obscure the core hypocrisy of the green movement which is; sacrifice for thee but not for me – Suzuki is the poster boy for this toxic elitist hypocrisy. There was a day when society was more evolved, where people like this were ignored and never allowed near positions of responsibility or authority. The fact they have injected such malignant hypocrisy into the public narrative is an indication we are devolving as a society and in decline as a culture based on reason.

“Socialists are like bad parents,”

I can think of a few other similia to describe them. ;o)

I remember talking to a commentor on a website once about Victoria’s raw sewage dump into the ocean because he was the usually “hate-on” for Alberta oilsands and lover of Victoria, thinking it was perfect. When I mentioned the raw sewage dump he immediately said, “The fish crap so what’s the issue?” I could not believe that he said that and meant it. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

NDP and Green parties of Greater Victoria and southern Vancouver Island oppose the Northern Gateway and Kinder Morgan pipeline projects, claiming exclusive stewardship of the environment. However, Murray Rankin, NDP MP for Victoria, along with many others, opposes the sewage treatment plan that is in place for Greater Victoria, claiming that the existing plans are somehow incorrect, but more likely because if it was implemented the Conservatives (who committed approximately $68 million toward the project) would be credited for financing a large portion of the project (the Conservatives under Harper have spent more on infrastructure in BC than all previous governments combined going back to Trudeau, yet are losing support among the uninformed of BC)
Murray Rankin vowed, if elected, he would stop the Northern Gateway project; sewage for our neighbours OK; oil pipelines, NO.
Its not the citizens of Greater Victoria who want to end dumping of sewage into the oceans surrounding the city, it is the NDP.

Victoria is the communist capital of Canada after Toronto, so it really does reek of hypocrisy to whine about Alberta losing a duck here and there when the Victorians are dumping their raw sewage into Juan de (or duh) Fuca Strait.
