Grey's Anatomy actor visits White House, praises Trump's criminal justice reform First Step Act

Amanda HeadRebel Contributor

This week, Donald Trump announced the First Step Act which will cut sentences for thousands of current federal prisoners to a room full of invited criminal justice reform supporters including one actor risking his reputation to praise Trump.

Actor Isaiah Washington's face in the crowd is recognizable to anyone who has watched him on the hit series Grey's Anatomy or The 100. I was surprised to see him there. While there are dozens of known conservative actors, Washington calls himself neither “Democratic or a Republican.”

Washington tweeted that while he voted for Barack Obama twice, he was given no support by the former president on Africa or the  “Black Agenda”... and that it was Trump who chose to invite him to the White House. Washington has spent the last decade lobbying the White House regardless of its occupants on behalf of Sierra Leone

The #FirstStepAct is part of Trump's planned criminal justice reform and will soon be followed by a Second Step Act aimed at reducing unemployment for people with criminal records.

Maurice, it sounds like you’re caught between a rock and a hard place.. Not a good place to be, particularly if you are in your later years, as I am.. I have recently kicked many of my “friends” to the curb… All of my family as well, except for my Daughter and ex-Wife… The ones you speak of, are not your friends.. Get rid of them asap.. When you get rid of the “Idiots” in your life, new friends show up.. Do not let any person bring you down… And, never think that holding on to an old friend means having to put up with their bullshyte…

Maurice Potvin – I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s mind boggling at just how some people can have such blinders on when it comes to Trump and Trudeau. I would much rather a leader who grabs pussy than is a pussy!

I will always defend Trump, he deeply cares about his country. He gave up his multi million dollar job, to become the most denigrated and hated man to lead his country to a free place for all

I had lunch yesterday with a group of old friends. The conversation drifted into politics, and the Lava-land fiasco came up, of course, but inevitably the talking points turned to all things Donald Trump. They all, to every man and woman, seemed to think Donald Trump is the worst thing since Hitler. One even said, only half joking, that if Trump was our Prime Minister he would assassinate him. Their hatred of Trudeau doesn’t even come close to how they feel about Donald Trump. They categorically dismissed every good thing accomplished under his administration as having nothing to do with him. The Trump derangement syndrome is all-pervasive, palpable and powerful, even among otherwise sane, normal people. I bit my tongue throughout the whole meal. I don’t particularly want to lose the few friends I’ve got. On a personal level, I really don’t much care for Donald Trump, the man. But I don’t have to invite him over for dinner! His policies and his personality are what’s keeping western civilization from drifting into a socialist quagmire. He is exactly the person we need right now to preserve western democracy.
