Halifax cartoonist caves to outrage mob over “edgy” Wilson-Raybould sketch

David MenziesMission Specialist

As the SNC-Lavalin saga continues to take more twists and turns than a pretzel, an interesting sidebar story has developed regarding an editorial cartoon of ex-Justice Minister Jody Wilson Raybould penned by Halifax cartoonist, Michael De Adder.

The cartoon depicts Wilson-Raybould and Justin Trudeau on opposite sides of a boxing ring. In his corner Trudeau is being advised by someone, who appears to be Gerald Butts, to “keep beating her up, solicitor-client privilege has tied her hands.”

Wilson-Raybould is bound and gagged to represent the legalistic position she’s found herself in, but you know what happens next, of course.

Social media goes into meltdown-mode with accusations that the cartoonist is making light of violence against women, particularly Indigenous women.

Lost on the snowflakes is the idea of satire and symbolism with one commenter even demanding that the RCMP criminally charge the cartoonist!

Unfortunately, De Adder waved the white flag of surrender rather than show the bravery and principled stand demonstrated by cartoonist Graeme MacKay who drew a very similar cartoon yet refused to take a knee.

By the way, remind me again why we’re collectively coughing-up $595 million to bailout a bunch of mainstream media cowards?

Charred Remains—-I just went by what a bunch of Alberta friends explained to me. Both you and them said the same regarding the the corruption of the CPC.
“There is so much rot in the CPC party and the people knew it so they were pushed to extinction at election time completely annihilating them.”
Obviously voters wanted to teach the Right leaning Parties a lesson, so they voted Notely, even though not many admit to that.

My friend has a big Facebook following and at one time no one would say that they voted NDP.

Not being from Alberta, I don’t know the hidden details; I was only trying to get rid of a troll whose name may be NDP Sucks.

Deborah.. that was exactly it… Trudo had that cartoon pulled but he couldn’t have it pulled with everybody knowing it was his order to do it because it made him look bad. He had it removed in very tricky way and made it look like somebody else didn’t like it and had it pulled for other reasons than him viciously slapping her around in the political arena.

Ron.. notley didn’t really come up the middle for her win as I believe Daniel Smith and somebody else across the floor.. it wasn’t a split vote in this circumstance it was a solid majority that brought the NDP up. Everybody in Alberta was fed up with the behaviour of the conservatives since the grand scale theft of Alberta heritage trust fund and many other instances of corruption.. There is so much rot in the CPC party and the people knew it so they were pushed to extinction at election time completely annihilating them, and that’s when our blessed virgin Jason Kenny was sent to Alberta to acquire ( through any means ) the upstart party, the wild Rose and get the CPC and the regular players back in the game under a blended party with another name..
I apologize for poking my nose into the dispute but I had to let everybody know that the NDP didn’t come up the middle… This was a clear trouncing that the CPC brought upon themselves and gave to Alberta where we had to suffer badly no matter how we voted aside from a wild Rose win.. we were hooped from the beginning because two out of the three choices were toxic and poisonous to this province.

De Adder nailed what happened in that cartoon! The fact that he caved to this cencorship will not bode well for his career. When the truth circles the chronic liars and deceivers they squeal like pigs. McKay got it right, and stood up for freedom of speech! If people don’t want to lose free speech, then refuse to be cowed into apologizing for telling the truth!

“Hyacinth—Use your head, I think you are on something.”

Reread all of your posts Ron or sleep off the alcohol. You accused me directly of several things but the most humorous was “Harper warned YOU that Justin wasn’t ready.” Now you are backpedaling, priceless LMAO.
commented 2019-02-24 00:47:45 -0500
You can’t blame anybody that is able to punch above your head Robert.!

It would seem that the lowbrow low IQ knuckle dragger‘s have somehow encouraged conservatives to bicker amongst them selves and those that would detract from the thread seem to be encouraging it.. Hyacinth and Ron both good conservatives are butting heads a little bit tonight which happens from time to time.. and by the way Robert I’m sure that post was “crystal clear“ enough for anybody with an IQ of three digits because no one else seemed to struggle with the interpretation of it.. is that crystal clear enough for ya..?!?

Hyacinth—Use your head, I think you are on something. “Harper warned you that Justin wasn’t ready.” Harper was warning the Province, not one person.

“Harper warned you that Justin wasn’t ready.”

You think I am a Liberal Ron?? LMAO!! You better hang up the bottle there boy cause your brain is rotting from too much alcohol tonight. - – – -

Yep and Ron Joseph is running away with that tonight, but he is a hoot and a half, worth waiting to see what other pearls drop from his pen LOL.

Hyacinth==As for your generic blame game of the Ontario voters.

Notice I said " many" of you Ontario voters, not all.
The difference is many of the Ontario voters actually thought that the Trudeau Liberals would make a good Gov’t, with weed to boot. Harper warned you that Justin wasn’t ready.

++++++++++++++++++++++
I am close with many Alberta voters, and they mostly thought the other guy was going to vote for the Right, and since so many of them wanted to teach the Right a lesson, too many voted for the Left., and Notley came up the center.
I’m sure it is one mistake that will never happen again , at least in Alberta.

I’m still not giving you solid facts. Hard to do when you are asking me to 2nd guess old elections.

LOL, Let me tell you about one of your links that you sent me in last years discussion of CTV or CBC owning Corner Gas. It simply said in 1948 CBC received a License for the Prairies. (or something like that) I remember saying to myself, “Is Hyacinth saying that in 1948 a CBC person thought of a hit comedy series before anyone on the Prairies had a TV?” (They wern’t common in the big Cities for another 6 years) Obviously they were talking about a Radio License.

Hyacinth sometimes what you call rhetoric is what a person has seen or read and there is no link.

Some people are too stupid to know that the joke in that cartoon was on Trudo.. but then again maybe they did realize that and used a different excuse to kill two birds with the same stone so the effort to keep Juniors Image squeaky clean is intact.

Good point Liza , beta males are just as destructive and dangerous all over the western world ( Trudeau , Macron etc ) but certain countries in Europe ( Sweden , Germany for example ) show us the female version.
I guess it’s equal opportunity insanity!
commented 2019-02-23 21:09:12 -0500
There is no denying that there are some weaponized neurotic and very destructive females in power. It comes from not having children and or not having personal experience with anything but beta men. Having said that, its the beta men in power who are equally as dangerous.
commented 2019-02-23 20:40:31 -0500
Ron , interesting what you posted earlier about “progressive” woman politicians destroying the Western world. Take a look at Sweden for example where “progressive” woman politicians have turned a heaven on earth paradise country into a nightmaric Apocolypse islamified hell in less than 10 years, dooming their children for eternity. You can see the country in free fall, it’s almost unbelievable what has happened. Is it a demented form of self loathing and self hatred these “progressive” woman have ? They are so hell bent on destroying white western society that they will even sacrifice their own selves to be killed by Islam. They secretly want submission and want to be destroyed. They are in many instances childless , barren and sterile themselves ( Merkel for example ) which explains perhaps part of it.
It’s an extreme form of self hatred and annihilation that possess these “progressive” woman.

I’m a Patriate for Canada.
I’m a Patriate for the United States of America.

I will not falter from either.

“Ontario may be a big fish in a small lake to you, but it was nothing to me until Ford started running things. You Ont. people think they are so important, Oh!, I take that back, as you are important. Many of you idiots brought in the Trudeau Gov’t that is taking away our Freedoms and even the Political cartoons that we were talking about, let alone putting us in deficit spending until 2050. Not to mention filling our Country with illegal scum that will vote the Liberals back in.”

This time I am LMAO @ you Ron and not just at what you previously wrote. You assume far too much, you come swinging with both fists instead of engaging your brain. As for your generic blame game of the Ontario voters you do realize that can be tossed back at you that Alberta voters enabled Notley so you may want to rethink your last comment.

Again, what part of “RHETORICAL” do you not get? Check a dictionary.

HYACINTH, I follow politics all over the Western World; why would I care to know about the career of a Health Minister in a Canadian Province which has a per capita debt only equal to California or Greece.

Ontario may be a big fish in a small lake to you, but it was nothing to me until Ford started running things. You Ont. people think they are so important, Oh!, I take that back, as you are important. Time to forget about you and watch Montreal beat Toronto.

Hyacinth—when you debate………………………….

You are a braver man than I Gungah Din.

LMAO Ron, guess reading is BORING for some, old news is relevant for if you don’t learn from history you are bound to repeat it. Are you now defending the total ineptitude of Health Minister Deb Matthews because she is a woman? It certainly reads like it even with you tossing in “What is your answer to this, you send a video of a Health Minister from the Winne Ontario Gov’t, the most dysfunctional Gov’t in Canada’s History.” By the way you do understand what “rhetorical” means, no? Apparently not, check a dictionary.
commented 2019-02-23 17:01:32 -0500
Hyacinth—when you debate you quickly gather up and send a bunch of old links that have little or nothing to do with the subject or comments.
Last year you said CBC developed Corner Gas and I corrected you saying it was CTV. You sent a bunch stuff that took an hour to go through and says nothing about the subject. I’ve watched and that’s how you think you win debates by boring your opponent until they gives up.

OK, I said respectfully that women have stronger feelings than men, I didn’t say anything about them crying, and you send me a video of Trudeau crying and you think you made a point.

I said women are good in Health portfolios. Although Trudeau’s cabinet has been a train wreck, one of the few bright spots has been Jane Philpott, first Minister of Health. The Political experts have all agreed on this, they say, "she is professional in every way. Her replacement Ginette Taylor also seems steady.
What is your answer to this, you send a video of a Health Minister from the Winne Ontario Gov’t, the most dysfunctional Gov’t in Canada’s History.

That’s enough, I’m not spending any more time looking up stuff for you; as I said, you sucked me in last year.

This catoonist is a coward. He betrayed himself. He will now stunt his creativity to avoid the Liberal MOB coming after him. They are humorless and didn’t get the joke … why take a knee to those horrid excuses for women.
