Hamilton doesn't have a gun problem. It has a crime problem

Brian LilleyArchive

A brazen daylight shooting in Steeltown has the public antsy and politicians flapping their gums.

Why is the first instinct of politicians to call for a gun ban after a shooting?

I explain why the Hamilton mayor's call for a gun ban is silly.

What his city has is a crime problem.

What do you think? Tell me in the comments!

Politics…! Didn’t these politicians get the memo on just how effective having a gun registry was at keeping guns out of the hands of criminals? (Like, not at all effective?)

Hamilton has always had a crime problem. Look to council for the root cause.

Chad, I did see it and it made me sick. It reinforces what I believe, and that is we in Canada do not have a ‘Justice System’, we have a ‘Legal System’ and one that has been broken for a long time.

Marty Ashfield – You should see the report on the Syrian bank robber, they want to reduce his sentence to prevent him from being deported, even though he wouldn’t have been anyway.

Typical Liberal, politician reaction. Jump to ban guns rather than trying to find a solution to stop criminals. These people doing the shooting are more than likely know to the police who have their hands tied by our legal system, meaning they need more proof. Even then there will likely be some Liberal judge that will find a way to ‘hug’ the criminal. How do some of these politicians get into high office with the way they think and act. Then again it could be a vote getting ploy. Is there an election coming up soon in Hamilton?
