“Coffee with a Cop” event cancelled over “safe space” fears

David MenziesMission Specialist

The tyranny of the minority strikes again: a Hamilton, Ontario cafe was hoping to facilitate communication between residents and law enforcement by staging an event called "Coffee with a Cop."

But cop-hating bullies online forced the owners of the coffeehouse to cancel the event.

What do average folks on the street have to say about this?

Having lived in Hamilton for six years, I can assure you that Andrea Horwath’s home town is indeed “New Jersey North”… And I still have lifelong friends there!…

If you fear a “cop” you must be doing something illegal or have something to hide.

Bullies rule, not safe in Hamilton.

There really must be a stupidity contest on. Cops protect citizens from the bad guys.

Hamilton thugs win then. Its as simple as that.

Bravo Hamilton!.. The home of the Mancusos, and Andrea Horwath, Sheila Copps – remember her! -and dozens of other politicians, and street gangs, striving hard to maintain “Steel Town” as some reflection of New Jersey… Which they are evidently succeeding in doing so!… Bravo!

Hears a question for the cops: don’t you investigate legitimate threats?
They have the evidence.
It’s not up to the owners of the cafe to fight this battle.
The police need to step in and demonstrate that social media threats are taken seriously and will be investigated.
Proves it’s not the owners who are whimping out, it’s the cops who don’t want to take a stand.

I once lived in Hamilton…granted this was in the late sixties/early seventies…to make a long story short…the Hamilton Police were the most corrupt force in Canada (and this from someone who subsequently lived in Montreal)….

I would like to think that things have improved….perhaps they have…but for anyone to be cynical towards that force’s overtures to become a Robert Peel/London Bobby policing by public consent ….being received with an OH REALLY response…. does not surprise me in the least.

It seems the shop owners were afraid “coffee with a cop” would turn into “coffee and vandalism with antifa” and the cops would turn a blind eye. Don’t blame the shop owners, blame the politicians who direct law enforcement to allow any left wing nut to subvert a community building initiative into a violent confrontation. Wear a badge and swear to protect = evil. Wear a black hoodie and swear to cause harm = you’re somehow protected’. The event was probably cancelled to protect Hamilton’s finest from embarrassment.

I had to think about what that attractive brunette said for a while, but eventually it made a lot of sense.

I then called the Hamilton Police, 905-546-4925, and tried to offer my…sympathy, that they were treated this way by lefties…the fellow who answered, who was a police officer, didn’t know what I was talking about and had never heard of the Mulberry Cafe…
Of course, it was 9:30 at night there, and I’ve still got blue skies and sunlight through the windows here…
One tries.

It seems to me that anyone who objects to a police officer being in a coffee shop on the grounds that this will make them feel unsafe should be investigated by the police.

After all, isn’t it criminals who are the most likely to be upset by a police presence?

I can’t imagine that good and decent people would feel “unsafe” talking to one of our men and women in blue, people who put their very lives at risk every day to protect us and uphold the rule of law.
