“Special advisor” roles for long-time Liberal MPs reek of cronyism

Christopher WilsonRebel Commentator Christopher Wilson

When Prime Minister Trudeau completed his first cabinet shuffle earlier this year, two veteran Liberal MP’s, were “retired” from cabinet and appointed ambassadors abroad, John McCallum to China and Stephan Dion to Germany and the European Union. But that’s not all these two were given.

As a send off from their pals in the Liberal Party, in addition to the ambassadorships and the elite benefits that come with those positions, both were also given special advisory positions to the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chrystia Freeland.

And those special advisory positions come with a salary just shy of a cool quarter million.

Cabinet signed off on two Orders in Council to create these highly unusual positions. Neither I nor any of my Ottawa sources, have ever seen ambassadors given a special advisory position on top of their regular ambassadorship, and it’s not just The Rebel who noticed this either.

Watch as I explain why this is so unusual, who else has noticed and share with you the results of the access to information filing we submitted in an attempt to find out more about these advisory positions.

At this point, it appears the Liberals have literally just made up these positions that don’t seem to be real or have any expectation of what work will be done.

But as we speak, both Dion and McCallum are collecting paycheques for their $200K+ salaries while hundreds of thousands of Canadians suffer from job losses in the energy sector, and many thousands more face ever increasing taxes and smaller take home pay as a result.

I thought Trudeau was fighting for the middle class? The middle class that at the time he took power was actually the wealthiest in the world thanks to the previous conservative government.

It appears the cronyism Liberals love is alive and well again in Ottawa.

Hyacinth, I always think of Justin as a windsock: blows whatever direction he is told to.

Well I guess McCallum can clear up his bar tab and Dion can get the bird shit cleaned off his suit now.

Dion ambassador to Germany? Is he as fluent in German as he is in English?

McCallum ambassador to China? Someone has to co-ordinate those $1500.00 dollar a meal meet and greet with Juthtin.

A couple hundred grand a year to mop up Freeland’s tears behind her. Because she is such an incompetent twit they need back up help.

The liberals in action….proof they have total dibs on CORRUPTION and HYPOCRISY.

What do you expect? Trudeau is a fake feminist, a fake PM (Gerald Butts is the brains behind Trudeau who is just a pretty sock puppet), his “Liberal” party is totally fake for it is stunningly illiberal, intolerant, and anti-freedom. Everything about Trudeau and his party is fake so fake jobs fit right in line with the whole red tent fantasy woven by the CBC and their party loyalists that have their noses firmly entrenched in the tax trough.

Canada will not survive this Trudeau, he will ensure its demise even if he is a one term wonder, just as daddy Trudeau forever changed Canada. Our only hope is Trump for our conservative MPs are as weak as water.

Liberals have proved over and over and over again…………

Incest is perfectly alright as long as it is kept in the family.

I would rather sleep on a bed of nails than knowingly shake the hand of a modern day liberal politician or their supporters.

A very dumb expensive mess indeed. No doubt bribes to keep the old farts happy and out of the way since they were clashing with all the young diverse feminists come picture taking time. And where is the MSM? Oh yeah they just worry about glasses of conservative orange juice.

So Freeland needs 500K worth of help on her portfolio. Surprise, surprise.
Now we have dumb, dumb and dumber. What a mess, a very expensive mess

Liberals are entitled to their entitlements, and if those entitlements don’t currently exist, Justin will simply just invent them.

Kevin O’leary really wavering on details of what he’d do with immigration. Supports diversity(puke) and multiculturalism(puke again). Also, wants to bring more Syrian immigrant professionals for special positions where they would be making $150k. Just think of how they could get in with our government and have more dollars to donate to the Liberal party, and the building of mosques. Andrew Lawton Radio show

I suggest we send the Prime Minister letter after letter; the old fashioned way. Overwhelm his office staff with opening envelopes, reading the contents and then trying to decide what to do with all this paper. Keep sending the same letter weekly (let’s pick a date). If all of us coordinate our efforts, we can tell him exactly what we think of : M103; the need for immigration reform; proper and just vetting of immigrants; deal with all the illegal crossings into Canada; stop wasting tax payer money; get a grip on reducing debt; no additional Syrian refugees (help them in their own country); you get the idea….sound off. Keep the language clean, and remember, no postage needed. Send your thoughts to

I decided to re-post here after reading the latest example of our Prime Minister wasting more tax payer dollars. If you decide to send a letter, cite this article as another reason to be upset with his spending.

I would not pay Stephan Dion minimum wage at a burger joint flipping burgers. The man is a complete fool.
