High School Principal Bans Gender-Based Colors For Graduation Caps Because They're 'Offensive'

Rebel Staff

A high school in New Jersey has just abandoned a 50 year tradition of using gender-based caps for graduation because he says it's “offensive” to students “whose identity is more fluid.”

Glen Rock High School Principal John Arlotta gave himself a pat on the back for this decision by saying that it was a big step forward for the entire community.

“Times have changed in terms of gender equity,” Arlotta said. “It’s really meant to be a step toward unity,” Arlotta said.

“Someone said it’s been that way since 1959. My answer is that it’s not 1959 anymore.”

Mic drop!

Arlotta further explained that this is “an effort to meet changing gender dynamics, particularly to be inclusive of those whose identity is more fluid, and for whom a color-coordinated identifier would prove complicated, if not offensive."

Of course, some still found a way to be "offended" by the decision, as feminists are mad that they now have to wear the colors that were previously worn by men.

"The girls now have to conform to men once again, which is something I thought our society was past,” one student wrote for the school newspaper. She added that she would prefer if each student could pick their own color to wear, so that nobody will have to conform to anything!

he left seems to think that this is a step forward, but to us, it seems like a giant step back for society.

Furthermore, the fact that Alotta capitulated to progressive ideology and still found a way to enrage feminists shows that it is literally impossible to appease the left. No matter how much people conform to whatever the left's latest craze is, some will still find a way to be offended.

Andrew maybe we care about freedom and about idiots being appeased at the expense of our rights. What if the high school said no head coverings? You would suddenly care i bet.

Oops, my bad….“feminists are mad.”
Not very nice of you to throw a high school student under the bus for having an opinion and providing it to the school newspaper. Again, appeasement strategies for fluid folk end up creating problems that ideologues don’t anticipate!

Nothing about the situation says anything about “enraged feminists”, unless you feel that an out of context comment taken from a column in a high school newspaper is somehow a credible measure of public opinion.

Apparently the Rebel does, which is somewhat (not very) amusing.

Oh Andrew, you missed the part of “enraged feminists”. Appeasement strategies for fluid folk end up backfiring!

The Rebel sure knows how to pick its stories of critical national importance. I mean, how else would you know that a high school in New Jersey has decided to change the colours of its commencement robes?

A guest on CBC (oops I watched it today) stated these millennials, now living with their parents, have an attention span of 8 seconds. Therefore, their future is in technology.
Assisted suicide and euthanasia should work well for them when they become doctors without attention spans.

In the big scheme of things, regardless of their cap, they will still be the unemployed SJW snowflake butterflies when and if they finally get out of university (if university is on their horizon).

Get them when they are young, as the saying goes. PC is being drilled into their little entitled minds.

This is insane. I graduated KVHS (Go Crusaders) in 2000. Want to know the colour everyone wore? It was royal blue with a bit of white, our school’s colours. Guess what nobody complained, not even the facist SJWs that hated the fact that our mascot was a crusader. We were graduating High School, a time to enjoy ourselves look back at good times, ponder our future and put differences aside and grow the hell up.

Fraser, sadly in many school districts there are graduation ceremonies for kindergarten, grade six, grade eight then high school.

He is in charge of the teachers that teach the children. Now we know where the problem is.
