Highly redacted ATIP docs can’t hide one key fact: Carbon tax will hurt Canadians

Christopher WilsonRebel Commentator

Remember when the Alberta NDP claimed they had conducted impact studies into the carbon tax they unleashed on the province, but when we asked for those studies they gave us brochures?

When the Liberals introduced their federal carbon tax, we wanted to know if they had done any impact studies of their own. It turns out they did and the findings are something every Canadian needs to see.

Watch as I share what we learned, thanks to an Access to information packet we received.

The document reveals concerning revelations including this one in the key findings:

“Imposing a price on carbon emissions, either through a tax or a cap-and-trade system, would raise the cost of fossil fuels and energy. These higher costs would then cascade through the economy in the form of higher prices, thus leading all firms and consumers to pay more for goods and services with higher carbon content.”

That’s pretty clear and there really is no denying that carbon taxes will make EVERYTHING more expensive as the cost is passed down to the bottom of the chain, to consumers like you and me, to families struggling in an uncertain economy.

But equally alarming is that major portions of these documents are redacted which makes you wonder, what are they hiding?

You may recall a copy of this same document was leaked to Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall in December and when he saw the admission that the impact would “cascade through the economy” he demanded the federal Liberals reveal the entire document un-redacted.

Until that happens, if it ever does, we only have third party analysis to go on and it’s not good.

All of this will hurt Canadian consumers, but nothing may hurt as much as the competitive disadvantage Canada is about to put ourselves in compared to the US under Trump.

Perhaps the Trudeau liberals thought when Hillary was anointed President, she’d also bring in a similar price on carbon so she and Trudeau could virtue signal to the world about Climate Leadership or some other nonsense.

Now I fear the Liberals will dig in their heels just to be a counterbalance to the inevitable shift in US environmental policy under Trump, all at the expense of everyday Canadians who are already hurting from failing left wing policies.

The West Coast is certainly not experiencing any “Global Warming”! As of the last several days, major winter storms with inches to a foot of snow in some locations along with freezing rain etc. Unheard of almost halfway into a February!

Bill Elder i was young , but i remember that crap as well, would love some socialist idiot to explain how bankrupting companies makes more jobs or benefits the economy??? Andrew Stephenson you want to enlighten us?

Bill. The whole point to global warming, according to it’s founder Maurice Strong, was to “collapse western economies”.

Hahahha, yes Bill, I do remember the wage and price controls, though I was young at the time.

Christopher. Will Ezra let you take them to court? It will bring it to the attention of the public at large and be good promo for TheRebel. Good work!

THe carbon tax will cave the economy, not a doubt, so say the most accurate financial forecasters – it amounts to a 10-25% surcharge for every commercial action, good or service which uses energy to produce, being downloaded through the supply chain to the consumer. Essentially everything will cost 10-25% more at a time when globalism has robbed workers of wage increases and buying power. And for no provable justifiable reason.

If you were setting out to deliberately destroy an economy and mortally cripple national productivity, this is the perfect plan.

Remember Papa Doc’s wage and price controls? Nawww didn’t think so – the CBC has the memory span of an ant.

Basically all of my worst fears are coming true. They took half my money from me in income taxes during my working years and now that I’m approaching early retirement age, they’re going to take the rest through user fees and consumption taxes. And make no mistake that’s what a carbon tax is. When someone puts in decades of hard, honest work under one set of rules and then you change the rules, that’s when people get angry. Clock tower angry.

Since the concept was first introduced years ago, we have known, and have seen that the impact of a carbon tax multiplies throughout an economy, impacting the cost of almost all goods and services, directly or indirectly. Consequently, the identification of the amount actually paid by individuals as a result of a Provincial or a National carbon tax is, practically-speaking, impossible. Unless completely inept, our Government Officials know this, and therefore so should our elected Federal Politicians.

Yet apparently, the PM has said that if the Provinces collect the tax they can give it back to their citizens! Sure sounds more like deception by a Political Leader who practices virtue signaling, and tragically, much of the time, has no idea or understanding of what he is saying.

Climate change is a fraud. Carbon taxing is a fraud and the liberals/ndp should be taken to court via a class action suit by the citizens of this country.

So far the Trump administration hasn’t really commented on the globalist climate change freak show that is Trudeau’s Canada. Can’t imagine Trump being “kind” to enemies like Trudeau who ridiculed and demeaned him.
As our over-taxed economy collapses under the American elephant you can bet JT and his billionaire buddies will be just fine.

But, but Junior has said the government will give us our money back! OK, OK I don’t believe it either.

Are there any lawyers out there who would file suit. The crowd funding would be easy. You would also be the most popular lawyer in the Canada. Perhaps someone who had just got their licence. Apply here.
