The left claims to stand up for personal rights and freedoms. However, when faced with an ideology diametrically opposed to their views, they cower like unprincipled hacks. That ideology is Islam.
In twelve Muslim majority countries, it’s illegal to be gay or an atheist.
In addition, women face clothing and driving restrictions, and in some cases, can’t even walk the streets without a man nearby.
It’s not just the Islamic theocratic governments that have retrograde views of human rights. It’s also the Muslim people themselves in vast numbers and there’s tons of polling and data to back this up.
For example, 55-60 per cent of Jordanians have a positive view of Hezbollah and Hamas, known terrorist groups that, in their constitutions, call for the extermination of Jews. Seventy per cent of Muslims in Tajikistan believe that women shouldn’t have the right to leave their husbands. I’ll give you more examples.
If Catholics had these beliefs and did these kinds of attacks, the media, largely controlled by the left, would rightfully call them out on it. They still, to this day, poke fun at the Catholic Church sex crimes. But the problem is the same people who insult the Catholic Church for their sex crimes covered up the sex crimes that happened in Rotherham, UK.
To the left, multiculturalism has superseded their concern to stand up for rights and liberty against the tide of Islamic violence and intolerance.
