Justin Trudeau had a lot to say about phasing out the oil sands last week, but he couldn’t be more wrong. Projections suggest that oil production in Canada will increase over the next decades and the majority of that increase will be from the oil sands.
Of course, Rachel Notley had to step in and defend the oil sands, but she’s implemented a 100 megaton cap on production so it’s easy for her to say she’s in favour of them but under her cap, production will need to be limited by 2027 even if steps to reduce emissions are taken according to the Fraser Institute.
She knows if she has her way, her green ideology is going to knee cap the oil sands within the next ten years.
