What struck me during my time in Israel is the rarely acknowledged fact that these Palestinian "refugees" are still called that after so many generations. That's unusual to say the least.
But as long as they have refugee status, they get almost all their needs looked after by the UN.
And as we know from our experiences in the rest of the world, high rates of welfare of any kind disincentivizes recipients from getting work.
But in this particular case, it also disincentivizes them from wanting peace...
