Iconic Alberta restaurant survives “booms and busts” but not NDP’s bad policies

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Host | The Gunn Show

The Bears Den Restaurant is a high-end steak house that sits on three acres of land just outside of Calgary city limits.

They have their own garden and honey bees and have been serving Alberta beef alongside other locally grown food for 14 years —the kind of restaurant lefty foodies would trip over themselves to support.

It’s a quintessentially Albertan place that was even featured in FX’s drama, Fargo.

But the Bears Den Restaurant is closing on January 28, laying off at least 26 staff.

The restaurant survived all the booms and busts of the last decade and a half, but it couldn’t survive the Rachel Notley's NDP.

And on his way out, the general manager is making sure everyone knows who is responsible for The Bears Den closing their doors for good. He is speaking out.

Joining me tonight to talk about the devastating effects of the NDP’santi-small business policies on his restaurant and the entire food and beverage industry is The Bears Den co-owner and GM Scott Winograd.

Free market enterprise is anathema to the communists that run Alberta..any free standing business has to be eliminated and replaced by collectivist state run organizations .
The NDP are big letter Communists .Thinking they care when it is their objective to run everybody out of business is foolish.

I was absolutely disgusted for those oil company “executives” chose to stand behind Notley! What bafoons! Mind you, their jobs are likely solidified; they could care a less about their employees. Unlike this gentleman who actually cares about what happens to his.

Some might say the Notley NDP are implementing these policies that so badly damage business people and their employees, so the NDP can garner some votes, and don’t care about the major damage being done to the economy.
I say BS
I say the Notley NDP are destroying the province piecemeal in order to destroy the province piecemeal. That is their intent, and that has been their plan.
When are The People going to wake up, get up and drag these treacherous swine from the legislature and lynch them all for treason!?

It’s getting pretty bad when McDonald’s has to start pricing its self out of the market place, because of government meddling in the market place.

All these small Businesses, are forced to close because of Left Wing Dogma. Eventually they will reopen as nationalized, Government run, Taxpayer funded organizations, employing Muslims only, working for peanuts. We are witnessing the beginning of end of the White Race. Started by Socialist Marxist scum, sucking on the Islamic teat.

What exactly is the difference between “totalitarian” and “social license”?

Trudeau says he approved pipelines because NDP fell in line with Liberals’s global warming agenda. BTW. Trans Mountain delayed another year. (My prediction: KM will announce it is not proceeding).
Trudeau says provinces impose carbon tax or the Liberals will take it from the producers and consumers.
NDP says if they don’t impose carbon tax the Liberals will over rule and take it anyway. Even though the NDP announced their carbon tax before Trudeau did his end run on the Provincial Premiers. Remember that day? I do. When Carbon Queen Katie interrupted the meeting she was attending with the Provincal Environment Ministers announcing Trudeau was about to stand up in the HC and make the Liberal announcement on the Liberal Carbon Tax.

Construction companies (Calgary) received notification at end of Dec. That as of Feb. 1, 2018 most gypsum related products and steel is being adjusted upwards range 3.5 to15%. (54" drywall up by 15%). Any guess what is driving the increases?

Socialist governments are bloody useless.

M God, whypocrites on earth are the liberals and ndpees in this country so bent on destroying everything we have worked for in this country. Everyday, it blows my mind all the evil ways they concuck to destroy us more and put us in the poorhouse. McKenna, the clothespins nose clueless idiot on tv all day long spewing her garbage on her scammy carbon tax. She made me sick to my stomach listening to her, but within 5 minutes I turned her off. The liberal msm are compliant to this constant barrage of destroying our freedom and way of life. Shame on them, God help us…

There is a working chef in Edmonton who owns two restaurants and has 40 employees. His two restaurants are always closed on 1 January and this year he had to pay 11 thousand dollars for statutory holiday pay. In total for the year he has to pay 55 thousand dollars for stat holidays. Add the minimum wage increase and the carbon tax increase that is a huge adjustment. Regulations also changed on 1 Jan and employees who work beyond the maximum hours at regular rate of pay will now by law get paid time and a half. Many of the employees wanted to work 12 hour shifts and get three day weekends. Now the owner is forced to spread the hours out to avoid paying time and a half and the employees are not happy. Well done Notley. Now give your friggin head a shake.

What a shame. Shame on the NDP. Hopefully someone can resurrect the Bears Den when Notley gets voted out.

Companies plan for booms & busts. They just happen. You can’t plan for incompetent, socialist, job killers like Wynne, Notley & Trudeau.
