The Bears Den Restaurant is a high-end steak house that sits on three acres of land just outside of Calgary city limits.
They have their own garden and honey bees and have been serving Alberta beef alongside other locally grown food for 14 years —the kind of restaurant lefty foodies would trip over themselves to support.
It’s a quintessentially Albertan place that was even featured in FX’s drama, Fargo.
But the Bears Den Restaurant is closing on January 28, laying off at least 26 staff.
The restaurant survived all the booms and busts of the last decade and a half, but it couldn’t survive the Rachel Notley's NDP.
Joining me tonight to talk about the devastating effects of the NDP’santi-small business policies on his restaurant and the entire food and beverage industry is The Bears Den co-owner and GM Scott Winograd.
