Impending CAT-Tastrophe: Global warming hucksters say pets are killing the planet

David MenziesMission Specialist

The war on fun continues, this time the targets progressives have in their sites are Fluffy and Fido!

According to climate alarmists, dog and cat ownership is contributing to the impending demise of planet earth.

A new study from the University of California reveals that feeding cats and dogs plays a “significant role in causing global warming.”

Apparently, canines and tabbies are causing sea levels to rise (or recede) and causing temperatures to get warmer (or cooler) with the crux of the problem being their meat-based diets.

Watch as I explain the pet crisis which, inconveniently, the study author doesn’t really offer a solution to.

One of the problems with pets vis-a-vis global warming according to the UCLA tall foreheads is that America’s pets produce about 5.1 million tons of faeces in a year.

That sounds like a lot, but I wonder how many tons of shite – both literal and figurative – progressives produce each year?

Andrew Stephenson the elements used for solar panels and wind turbines and even electronics have a huge impact as well, quit using those if it matters so much to you.

My pets are worth more than a million SJW lunatics. And they are smarter.

Andrew Stephenson sorry that 97% of scientists is complete BS. You are easily fooled. And sorry plants are not dying off. You are truly lost.

lol, I was wondering when they were going to get around to pets. Well, I think it’s fantastic. It’s the best recipe for turning Lefty’s OFF the GW bandwagon. Believe me, they’ll be like rats off a sinking ship. I think the net conservatives that get into power should implement it straight away, or better still, push the Lefty’s into doing it. Hey, let’s all pretend we’re SJW’s and start a petition demanding it!! Climate Barbie will fall for it for sure!!!

More lunacy from the regressive left! Not too worry. UN agenda 21 will prevent pet ownership whatsoever. Jihadi Justin’s M 103 will cause dog ownership to be “Islamophobic” and therefore illegal in Canada! Stupid Liberals! YOU are causing this insanity!

“Pets? What about all those meat-eating animals in the wild? Even the non-meat eaters produce CO2. Should we get rid of them all since they outnumber all pets?”
No. WIld animals are not eating food produced by intensive agriculture, beyond agricultural pests which are deliberately minimized.

“Some zealot has proposed we spend $100 trillion dollars and build CO2 collectors to rid our atmosphere of that dreaded gas, AKA plant food.”

We are at the lowest level of CO2 in tens of millions, if not hundreds of million of years. Grass came into existence 35 million years ago when CO2 was about 3000 parts per million. When CO2 goes below 150 parts per million all plant life dies, which will result in the dying off all insects, plant eaters, and by extension all meat eaters – everything except bacteria. Now, how idiotic are the fools who want to remove CO2? Perhaps they should lead the way by not breathing since breathing out contains at least 40,000 parts per million of CO2, which amounts to 0.9 kg/day."

Atmospheric carbon is exceptionally high for a glacial period, and the highest it’s been since then. There are orbital parameters, which as you note later, change, and in addition the sun’s slowly getting brighter. An appropriate level of carbon dioxide 300 million years ago, is not appropriate under present conditions. The natural balance of atmospheric carbon dioxide is well above the cited 150 ppm requirement, and will be for another hundred million years or so when it conflicts with the slowly brightening sun (at which point the minimum needed to live, will be too high to avoid a Venus-like runaway greenhouse).

Fertilizer is ‘plant food’, but too much will kill them. There’s an optimal, and with carbon, we’re above that.

“Time and time again I see actual scientists explaining why the pseudo-science dangers of CO2 are nothing but exaggerations. Of the less than 5% of global warming gas that isn’t water vapour, CO2 is less than 4% of that 5%, or 0.2% of green house gases. Considering how volcanos, decaying vegetation and life in general produce as much CO2 in a year as humanity produces in a century, I’m certain our share is quiet minimal, especially if you consider the actual volume of our atmosphere.”

No, of the 5% that isn’t water vapour, 4% (or 80% of what’s left) is CO2. Simple arithmetic errors damage your cause. Most of the rest is methane. Volcanoes emit trivially compared to human activity, and what we’re emitting overwhelms the natural balance, producing the natural buildup. “Quite minimal”, say 4%, still amounts to a few degrees of forcing, and we’ve increased that 75%. This agrees with the observed degree or so warming since we began emitting.

“The increase in global temperature is generally measured from the end of the most recent mini-ice age, or about 150 years ago, hence the increase in temperature. Why not go back 1500 years to the Medieval warming period which was warmer than today?”

We can go back to the current interglacial. We’re warmer, globally, than the peak warmth 6000 years ago, having undone a 5000 year pattern in a bit over a century.
"
The water content in our atmosphere is 5 times greater than all the oceans, lakes and rivers of earth. Then add in the other gases that are green house gases, plus oxygen, nitrogen, et cetera. So imagine how insignificant man’s contribution to CO2 really is"
No, the water content is about 2kpa, enough to cover the surface in about 20cm of water. There’s way more than that even in lakes let alone oceans. Man’s contribution is, as above, a couple percent. .

“Man contributes a minuscule fraction toward global warming (which is what most of the “97%” f scientists agreed upon in a flawed survey), but the activity of the sun is the greatest influence on climate. NASA has recorded all planets in our solar system having warmed over the past few decades, some as much as 18C. I doubt that SUVs are the cause.
" A few percent, again. Worth a degree or so at present. And, yes, solar activity contributes, but that doesn’t exclude human effects.

Progressives should shut their mouths. Besides the fact that they’re nuts, ll that co2 that comes out when they talk isn’t good for the planet.

To understand the agendas and thinking of the animal “rights” cult one must read Ingred Newkirk’s many missives on the regressive ideology of this totalist sect. – they ultimately want NO interaction between animals and humans whatsoever. To understand how pet ownership can show up in the latest leftest junk science narratives you need to understand that PETA-ites run a very Alinsky-like subversive narrative propagation to accomplish their end goal – thus we see Fido being scapegoated for the global crisis de jour.

Just more vacuous malignant leftist disinfo for neurotics. This only effects those zombies who have to constantly blue pill themselves to accept luddite regression as “progress”. Sorry cranks but you can’t guilt trip my pooch.

With 7.5 Billion people in the world, most don’t have flushing toilets, the wast goes any ware, that is a problem, quite lets not talk about that.

In every city – in the West anyway – where all the urban liberals live, most dog shyte is to be found sealed in little plastic bags, or in bigger plastic bags with other plastics etc., in a land fill…out side of the city.
In every city – in the West – where all the urban liberals ‘live’ cheek to jowl – most human shyte is flushed…into a waterway somewhere…where it is ‘treated’, or not…outside of the city.

I throw my dog’s shyte into the bush where it rolls up to the cleared area that’s ‘yard’ – and nature deals with it, by breaking it down, turning it into nutrients for the forest, as does my own shyte get flushed into a septic tank and nourishes the ground around it.
I’d have to say it’s definitely urban liberals destroying the planet – and everything else…and it stinks!

Montreal and Victoria are using the ocean for their human waste dumping ground. I will leave it there! Maybe PETA can spread human waste over themselves for their next photo op!

Meaning, what, that you’re going to pretend pets don’t have a significant ecological impact? Because … they kind of do.
