INSANE: ESPN removes Asian announcer from game because he's named “Robert Lee”

StaffRebel Columnist

ESPN has been getting rightfully ridiculed on social media for its decision to pull announcer Robert Lee from covering a game between William & Mary and the University of Virginia. Their reason? They believed viewers would be offended by his name.

As Daily Wire reports, it's very unlikely that Lee was named after Confederate general Robert E. Lee. The Asian announcer is also one of ESPNU's biggest names.

According to the network, the decision was made “as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name.” Additionally, ESPN claimed it's “a shame that this is even a topic of conversation.”

Yes. It's a shame that your ridiculous decision to pull an announcer from covering a game because of his name made you the biggest mockery in sports.

Do you think ESPN is being too politically correct?

Now the real question here is whether the Koreans appropriated the name, Lee, from the Anglos or vice versa? Who has the most valid claim to the name? How man SJW’s can dance on the their own pinheads?

I hope ESPN is on the receiving end of a massive lawsuit.

Yikes……what idiocy.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that BSPN cowed like weaklings. …..or that some on the left that are so crazy they would attack this innocent man.

Robert Lee….. okay, well now it is getting interesting. What next? I wonder just how far these wingnuts are going to push this ?
Yeah where are the trolls, why are they not here in support of antifa on this one? Is it going too far even for them?

If everyone falls for the “offended” people’s trap, we will eventually have no history or culture left because there will always be faults found within every aspect of our existence. U.S Army Veteran

I went to Elementary school with a Asian boy named Robert Lee. His parents immigrated from China and wanted him to have an “English” name. So, according to SJW’s, he should now be ashamed of his name and change it….maybe publicly flog his parents for naming him as they did !!!!

ESPN should be sued for wrongful dismissal and be forced to pay heavy punitive damages. Idiots!

Surely this Asian guy is guilty of blatant confederate culture appropriation. sarc.

The dept of the insanity of the ‘progressive’ left is revealed. I expect our whacked out “useful idiot” trolls to come on board and say that they support what ESPN did.

ESPN is only worried about the reactions of their audience, which if you think about it, means that they do not rate the intellect of their audience very highly.

I am waiting for the order coming from these types to "round all those “confederate types” up and put them in concentration camps". I mean this so absurd it would be funny joke but happens to be real. Just last night one was espousing on Foxnews how it is a safety issue to have congress pass legislation to censor speech. Well I have one “safety censoring” for him is one to censor him as he is a safety threat to the constitution.
