Here in the Golan Heights in the north of Israel, there are still a few old British tanks, abandoned on the hills following the famous battle here in 1973.
This area has been relatively peaceful since then, but today, just over the border into Syria, you can hear explosions, as the Assad regime routs remaining rebel forces.
The difference between the 1973 conflict and today is that this time, the anti-Israel forces are backed by Iran.
The locals tell me that as long as Assad remains in power, they believe the peace here can continue.
