I came across Robyn Urback’s opinion piece entitled, “Wouldn’t it be great if Canadians could actually ‘boycott’ an airline?”, the premise being that because air travel in Canada is essentially an oligopoly, there’s no way Canadians can effectively boycott it.
Now, you may agree with Robyn about the indignities we all suffer when travelling by plane, especially on a discount airline.
But, the fact is, Canadians do have options with airline travel. What's galling is that this is coming from someone who works for the CBC!
Watch as I talk about who Canadians really can’t boycott!
If we’re going to talk about something that really is impossible to pull off, it would be a CBC boycott, because even if you never watched a single minute of it and even if you went out of your way to shun those products and services promoted by their advertisers, guess what?
You’re still supporting the CBC with that annual $1.2 billion welfare cheque whether you like it or not.
