Montreal couple El Mahdi Jamali and Sabrine Djermane were planning a trip to Greece two years ago when some culturally-insensitive types accused the couple of harbouring secret plans to join ISIS in Syria.
What would make the authorities suspicious that this fun-lovin’ couple was up to no good?
Maybe it was the evidence uncovered at the couple’s condo like a recipe for a pressure-cooker bomb, a pressure cooker and a bag full of ingredients including matches, a clock, filters and nails.
Law enforcement charged the couple but a jury found them not guilty on all charges except one against Jamali.
But he's already a free man after his sentence was purged based on time served.
At this point, the only upside is Prime Minister Trudeau hasn’t staged a press conference to announce they’ll receive an 8-figure compensation cheque due to hurt feelings.
Well, not yet any way.
