A new report has surfaced accusing the Islamic State in Mosul cutting off the hands of children.
According to Rudaw, the Al-Saraj family has friends and relatives who still live in the region despite escaping themselves.
A friend text messaged one of the Al-Saraj daughters, identified only as SA, telling her what life was like under the Islamic State.
“Yesterday they cut off the hands of four kids, ages 12, 11, 13 and 16. One of the kids stole a toy bird, another stole an electric cable,” the contact said.
SA also said that “the killings and cutting off of appendages have become routine.”
SA’s older brother Ibrahim even allegedly has a video on his phone of an ISIS executioner shooting a pre-teen boy in the back despite the boy's father pleading for his son's life.
“He stole something, he wanted to eat,” Ibrahim said.
An activist going by RS who worked with women’s groups in the city spoke about how the Islamic State treats women.
When speaking of what happens when a woman is sentenced to death, RS said, “Some are stoned, some are shot, and some are beheaded for adultery. If the woman has a boyfriend, the punishment is stoning. If she has more than one boyfriend, she’ll be shot.”
She said that many families take their daughters out of school because they risk being sexually targeted by ISIS. She added that ISIS fighters go into schools and pick the 'most attractive' girls and force them into marriages.
“For Yazidis, if a girl is under eight, nothing happens, but if she’s older than eight, they force her to have sex with the jihadist,” RS said.
