Islamophobia: What happens if we agree that removing a hijab is “humiliation?”

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

David Menzies is stepping in to guest host tonight, but Ezra Levant will be back tomorrow!

Hijabs are very much in the news these days.

And the mainstream media narrative would seem to be that hijabs are good! Hijabs are empowering. They're a fashionable proclamation of one’s adherence to a particular religion. But most of all, these headscarves are downright sacred. Any criticism of the hijab is nothing short of Islamophobia.

Last month Air Canada employees were attacked in the media for requiring the 12-year-old Fatima Abdelrahman remove her headscarf on the basis that she did not wear one in her passport photo. Later, Fatima said she was “humiliated” when she was escorted by a female employee to a private area to temporarily uncover her hair to confirm her identity.

Don’t you wish you got that kind of personal concierge treatment at the airport?

I’ve been doing a ton of flying lately, folks, and I can tell you with absolute authority that anyone who is donning a baseball cap or a Tilley hat or any other chapeau is told to take it off. Every single time. No exceptions.

Surely there’s a reasonable expectation that one’s “rights” must be curtailed somewhat while going through airport security.

It’s all about trying to ensure that planes aren’t hijacked or used as weapons of mass destruction.

Tomorrow, we will be observing the 18th anniversary of 9/11.

How sad that whatever lessons we supposedly learned on that dark day back in 2001 already seem to have been sacrificed upon the altar of political correctness. Which is to say, if you have a problem with the hijab, even for security reasons, you are automatically labelled a bigot and an Islamophobe.

NEXT: Marc Morano of Climate Depot will join me to talk about the latest climate change-friendly food choices. We've moved beyond bugs, folks — it's time to eat people!

Liz Rosie, sorry if you took offence. You never wear a toque or a scarf, even in the coldest weather?
commented 2019-09-12 01:49:31 -0400
Go away Jay Kelly. Scram.
Her passport pic didn’t match her appearance. When that happens no matter who you are you have two choices, take off the head scarf so your appearance matches your passport pic, or don’t get on the plane. There should be no special accommodation because a person is Muslim. Same rules for everyone.

Men will have a hard time understanding what women have to go through. Liz Rosie gives a wake up call to all men: “Making a 12 year old take off a headscarf is no worse than making a 12 year old take off a belt or shoes, or get felt up by airport staff. Its part of getting on a plane.”

Is a hijab the light scarf that some women wear over their head?

I recently visited and emergency room at a Catholic hospital in Toronto.
No doubt to have a few braincells installed. Did they take?

Certain but not all Muslims, feel they are a protected species in the west and rules simply do not apply to them. Cross them and they will use your dumb HRT’S or regular courts to lighten your wallet and put you in your place.

Its all subjugating the west and showing us who’s boss, just different levels of it. Airline employees are a far higher and potentially dangerous level of it, I would certainly agree with that.

Without any reservations or equivocations.i am totally fed up to the depth of my stomach with people telling us how we can live ,what we can say and what we can believe. Our values constantly under attack
I would give thousands just to tell this jerk PM to take his entire agenda and cram it.

When I was 12, I wouldn’t have said boo! She was told to say that she was offended, so that the agenda can be moved along.

dEBORAH, YEAH! Burkas and menopause would be a lethal combo. Maybe its the matrons in the middle of a Chinook, who become violent and pull out weapons from under their robes. That heat build up would cause anyone to become violent.
The hijabs are really bad for the hairline too. Its the constant friction, just like wearing a ball cap all the time. Can you imagine wearing one from the age of 8. You’d be bald by the time you were 20.
commented 2019-09-11 13:50:45 -0400
If it wasn’t a humiliation to remove her Hijab for her passport photo why was it now? In any event she survived the same humiliation a lot of bald guys feel when they have to remove their ball caps or hats. Her humiliation is no more important than theirs.

I can’t imagine how much this is going to coast Air Canada after having to pay out $21,000 to the scammer in Ontario who was set off because the seat belt buckle said “LIFT” and didn’t include “lever” or whatever the french term might be.

- They come to the West to impose the traditions & values on us that made their own lands an unbearable s***hole. It’s sad that we have people in the West who would rather be murdered than be called racist or Islamophobic.

- It’s the constant hype & doomsday prediction failures that convinced me to look into what’s actually going on regarding the climate cult. I’m old enough to remember when it was the coming ice age. We were supposed to have all been dead countless times by this point. It’s all a big steaming load of crap.

Can’t wait to watch Quebec flip out when Prime Feminister Justy the Clown drops the hammer on their hijab/turban ban after getting their votes to re-install him. Separation referendum 3.0!
commented 2019-09-11 11:36:02 -0400
I hazard to guess that if the burka and veil were banned most of those Muslim women would be pretty happy about it. We know of ex Muslim women who cringe at the thought of their lives under those shrouds. They come to Canada to escape that oppression and hate seeing it here as much as we do. It has already gone from accepting the hijab to ‘hijab day’ to seeing full body bags, though mostly in our bigger cities. They are all symbols of anti western sentiment, supremacy and power over the west. I find the insistence, insulting.

This is all about conditioning us and the fact that the Hijab gets special status, is indicative of who it is that really is in control…the Muslim Brotherhood!
Yup, a political symbol of submission. I think the west has a right to not want to allow any exceptions for any coverings. It may be called Islamophobia by apologists and Islamists, but I call it common sense. It triggers me every time I see covered/veiled women. I find the symbolism highly offensive, not just as a western woman but as a Canadian.

It not only scares little children it scares dogs. It scares me too, and sorry, but any retail store is at risk when a full burka-ed person enters. What about banks or anywhere else for that matter. The women who are completely shrouded make people nervous.
commented 2019-09-11 09:54:55 -0400
Ironic. Wearing these garments, and burqas more so, are a form of humiliation, Humiliation for being born a woman.
commented 2019-09-11 09:36:45 -0400
They are promoting and protecting the hijab because it will be used to target women who have not bowed down to Islam. It’s a tool of submission and oppression! Never submit to evil, which the hijab is being used for.

From a biblical worldview:
God blessed them and said, Be fruitful and multiply Genesis 1:28
Jesus is coming back soon and will reign on earth for 1000 years after this the world will be destroyed by fire by God, first flood, then fire! If you believe the bible, the earth has 1000 years plus. They took the bible and prayer(Christian) out of the public school as it didn’t fit with the long-ago planned agenda to scare/indoctrinate kids.

All I want to know about the Muslim “religion” I learned on 9/11. These animals don’t deserve to be in North America.

If I understand correctly, the wearing of the hijab is not even called for in the Koran but is the creation of some Islamic states more recently… So, on what “religious” basis is this “Islamophobia” argument based??? Explain please to this “simple” Canadian…

When all other potential airline passengers are required to remove whatever head gear they are wearing for screening there should absolutely no special consideration given to the hijab, it is head gear and can certainly be used to conceal. Women do participate in suicide terrorism. To give special preference to hijabs in security screening is compromising the safety and security of airline passengers. I haven’t heard any reporting on Catholic Nuns refusing to remove their head gear or feeling insulted or embarrassed to be asked. Removal of and security checking of all head gear benefits everyone.

“The science” is hypothetical (Oxford Canadian Dictionary….1. based on possible or imagined situations which are not necessarily real or true, 2. of or based on or serving as a hypothesis (an idea or explanation that is used as a starting point for further investigation). Scientists who disagree with the rabid hypothesis of the socialist left are muzzled and disgraced by the unethical scientists whose goal is to line their pockets by fear-mongering and frightening innocent children. These reprobates aren’t anywhere to be found when innocents need consoling nor is there any apology or concern when their “scientific hypothesis” is proven to be bogus or their end of the world time passes their hypothetical end date, in fact, they just begin again to “hypothesize” on the next possible disaster that will end the world and eradicate civilization. Their pockets overflow compliments of those who seek a one world order to be governed by the deep pocketed elitists. To suggest cannabalism as a future option to survive is beyond ridiculous yet who truly knows if they themselves don’t already practice this and are just attempting to groom the masses to accept it as normal behaviour. What on God’s green earth are these supposed bastions of education graduating into normal society?

FRANCIS PEORI PEORI – “A lion protects his pride”
We could sure use a large dose of that in this country right about now.
The hijab/niqab/burka are symbols of oppression to many non Muslims, secular Muslims and especially ex Muslims, plus they scare little children. Just who is the inconsiderate one here? This isn’t an Islamic country. This is a western country. Why should the rules be any different for a covered Muslim than anyone else when boarding a plane?
Don’t fly Air Canada, try Qatar Airlines instead.

Sometimes people on The Rebel suggest that they do not hate Jews and Catholics, just Muslims. Give your head a shake. Once you use the language of hatred and ignorance you invite others to do the same. If you are gambling that people will not point the finger at you it is a longshot.

A woman wearing a toque or a scarf on her head is a woman, a human being. She is not to be despised, unless you, too, are willing to be despised.
