Israeli government hackers have uncovered a plot by ISIS to build laptop bombs that would get through airport x-ray machines.
The New York Times reports that “top Israeli cyberoperators penetrated a small cell of extremist bombmakers in Syria months ago and discovered ISIS was making bombs that would look just like a battery in a laptop.
According to Business Insider, the report “that the intelligence gleaned from the electronic heist was 'so exquisite' that it helped US spies get an understanding of how such devices would be detonated.”
In March, The Department of Homeland Security implemented a ban on devices larger than a cellphone from being carried onto aircraft originating from 10 countries in Africa and the Middle East.
