This jewelry store sign has online bullies on the attack -- in the name of "tolerance"

Brian LilleyArchive

A jeweler in Newfoundland is under fire for posting a sign supporting traditional marriage. The online bullying that's resulted says a lot about the twisted progressive idea of "diversity."

A local lesbian couple who'd actually had a positive experience when ordering custom rings at the store later objected when the owners posted the sign in their place of business.

They argue that business owners shouldn't promote their personal beliefs on their property.

But gay-owned stores often fly rainbow flags. Should that be banned too?

Tell us what you think in the comments!

“The sanctity of marriage is under attack”, means traditional marriage is under attack. One and the same. Marriage between a man and a woman, the only “style” of marriage. The sanctity of marriage goes far beyond any legal contract. Contracts to allow financial and legal benefits to same sex partners are in place. I mean no offence to same sex couples, but your union will never be marriage .

The sign I saw said, “The sanctity of marriage is under attack.” It did not say anything about “traditional marriage.” The sanctity of any marriage legally contracted, including, one would suppose, even the unorthodox ones is threatened by divorce, or other external forces. Did the store owners say, “This is against other styles of marriage.”? If not, how did the sign become interpreted incorrectly? The sanctity of marriage is under attack by wife/husband swapping, swinging couples, etc. The same-sex couples who marry are also facing attacks on their marriages. Some of their marriages do not last either. It is obvious by now that I am confused as to how such a sign came to mean other than what it said.

Thanks DAN MANCUSO, I called Today’s Jewelers, as well, offering support and encouragement. He thanked me for calling and said that he has been receiving a lot of support.

We have had war declared on us normal, heterosexual people – we who are the vast majority – Christians especially! That tiny 1 to 3 % of the population that chooses to be homosexual, and their enablers, have gone well beyond asking for a little tolerance, to demanding approval from normal people through the courts – Kangaroo or otherwise – to outright persecution and prosecution. They’re using Lawfare to smash and attack all that is normal, good and correct in Canada and the rest of the world – it’s not only the mentally disordered homosexuals, it’s their enablers and abettors too – the lefty/liberal/progressive/cultural Marxists and collectivist, mentally disordered! They have publicly stated their intention – just like the Muslim terrorists – a declaration of war!!!
It’s well past time to start fighting back and in no uncertain terms. It’s time to hit back, hard, pull no punches, take no prisoners. It’s well past time to push this Juggernaut of degeneracy, sickness and destruction back under the rock from which it emerged. The homosexual agenda is very real – see Michael Swift’s “Gay Manifesto”:
Fight back or perish.
I just called ’Today’s Jewelers’ ((709) 364-5280) and offered moral support and pleaded with them to NOT cave into the pressure, like so many others have been forced to, I reminded them of Barronelle Stutzman and how much support she’s been given by normal, heterosexuals and Christians – and yes even some homosexuals!
Fight back or lose it all.
It’s time to get ’er done…

How bad will it get before it gets better? They want to brainwash our kids in school. Will they succeed? Where is the light? How long will it take for the fruit of mind control to bear the seeds of free thought, again?

“freedoms” with caveats are NOT freedoms

When I think on it – the sign is probably correct. You are not allowed to celebrate heterosexual marriage and the Nazis will attack you if you do not support homosexual marriage.

Homosexuals are now on the attack. The proof? If you do not agree with their agenda you are vilified.

So let the fudge packers and canoe lickers live their lives but if you disagree – better shut up – or the Nazis will come for you.

Has anyone heard the phrase live and let live? If you’re gay, good for you, just don’t push it down everyone’s throat….

Why would anyone go to a store that supports Christian beliefs on marriage if they are not alright with that? If this has been his practice (for 11 years) to post signs in his store window supporting his religious beliefs. In this case it was to salute Mother’s Day; is he supposed to change because of them?
If you want hamburgers, do you go to a vegetarian restaurant and demand they serve meat? I don’t understand what the problem here is. This was not directed at the two women, it was an ongoing practice held long before these women went into that store.

The LGBT politics is not seeking equality, the agenda is to seek power.

“The gatekeepers of society”, who ever they are, won’t dictate if we keep pushing back. I ain’t playin. I blame social media and lazy people who won’t think for themselves. Lets all jump on the bandwagon that says what seems to be the popular latest right thing to do. Moral vanity leads to moral deterioration.

The guy didn’t say no to gay marriage and not make their ring, which for religious reasons should be a valid reason for declining, they only had a sign in their store, supporting traditional marriage! It is the business owners right to do so, (at least for now) These girls, and the whole, lettuce bacon and tomato new genders group need to back off, way way off. You want live and let live, try it on yourself. If you want to dictate, there will be some push back.

I just tried to email them…and the jewelry store email has been deactivated. This is disgusting!

Guy Fraser, if you or I or anyone else did that for that matter, did what you suggest, they would lose their job at the very least. Their employer would simply say it is not part of our code of conduct and can you. The media and SJW’s would all join in for the witch-hunt. That’s just how it works.

A fine example of “political correctness”, simply Communist propaganda writ small, in action. Political correctness is cultural Marxism. According to cultural Marxism (‘progressivism’ or ‘political correctness’), the mission for socialism is to be spread by evolution, rather than by revolution. That is, by capturing the culture through “the long march through the institutions”, as formulated by Italian Marxist theorist Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937). The revolution is to be achieved by taking over the institutions of power and influence, such as the judiciary, education, the media, politics, and the churches. No room for “live and let live” in this ideology. The LGBT community claims their activism is about love and equality, but if you don’t agree with them or approve of their lifestyle, they resort to hateful attacks attempting to discredit or marginalize Christians.

I like to start conversations with " Have you accepted Jesus as your saviour? Do you realize he was crucified to save us from our sin? So that whoever believes in him will have everlasting life? By then they are usually walking away and I don’t have to deal with them. But at least I’ve done my job

How dare he voice his personal beliefs on his own property inside his own business! Oh! The humanity.
Personally, I’m offended by (I presume) Ms. White’s atrocious grammar. I demand she stop speaking in public until she corrects it.

There is no law broken here by the store displaying what they believe in. The lgbt need to have their attacks against all non-homo businesses stopped immediately by the government on the basis of bigotry. They have gone too far. They are only looking for the big money grab with law suits. The lgbt is stomping all over everyone who is not gay, with their gestapo boots ( like islam who’s against everyone who isn’t muslim. they’d probably like to join muslims in the middle of the night to tear down crosses and burn down churches). I say screw them all if they want to be that bigoted. It’s time for non-homo people to do the exact same thing with law suits. As far as tolerance goes towards the gay community, with all this bs the intolerance towards them will be growing.

So let me get this right. The store owner and these two ladies had some form of agreement and exchange. This meets the criteria of a contract. The ladies reneged because they disagreed with the store owners’ beliefs on marriage. Even so, the store owner agreed to graciously refund their money. Rationally, these two women should be brought before the HRC by the store owners for discrimination. It is crystal clear that they won’t buy the product for one reason and one reason only, i.e., the owner’s beliefs on marriage. That’s the very definition of discrimination. I think it may be different if they decided not to enter the store due his beliefs had they known because that would be a thought crime and let’s never (ever) go there. But a deal was struck. A contract was made. The store owner has been harmed because of his beliefs. I would love to see the HRC squirm on this one.
How is this any different from the wedding cake bakery in California who didn’t want to make a wedding cake for gays? The roles are reversed as customer and store owner but the principal is exactly the same. There is a no win situation that’s being established where the only option left is silence and capitulation. Voices to the contrary must be heard.

Nice to see people hoisting a banner to show their opinion on marriage. The way you fight bullying is to stand up to them. That’s why they teach our kids the opposite.
Most bullies are really cowards at heart. That’s why they pick on people they think are weaker than them. Stand up to the Gay-BLT group and they throw the only weapon they have – name calling. They can’t win an argument using logic or facts so that’s their only tool. Try it next time and you’ll see they start with homophobe, then bigoted, racist and finally intolerant. It’s a hoot.

The store did not affect anyone’s rights, even though they did not advocate for gay marriage, they agreed to facilitate it by making the rings, whereas the gay and liberal community was not so kind. That community has prevented the owners to express their beliefs through bullying. Unfortunately the store owners do not have the luxury (that the gay and liberal community has) of having the HRC stand up for their rights.

We should all support this business – they did nothing wrong. As typical Newfoundlanders, the business owners went out of their way to be courteous and kind. They deserve our support.

The jewelry store sign is more warranted than the rainbow flag. Flags are territorial. Is LGBT a territory?
commented 2015-05-19 17:01:01 -0400
The problem is that our very governments actually enable this intolerance by allowing the HRC to intervene. They did not take down the sign because a few intolerant bigots objected to it but because of the threat of severe penalty if it had gone before the court.

This is a typical action by those who do not have a logical point to stand upon. They have no stance that can be supported by rationale. Therefore, they must bully, scream and yell, take action to destroy a diverse point that is opposite to their illogical stance, and generally act out to force others to accept their otherwise irrational viewpoints.

As is said by Brian Lilley, their vision of diversity only includes those who agree with them and causes totally stupid reactions against those who, while accepting the right for opposing views, hold to and publicly stand for, their own views. Those with otherwise unsupportable views attempt to force their stances publicly against those who simply state and stand-by diverse views. It is clear that these people do not stand for diversity but rather forcefully enforced universal agreement with their views – in the name of diversity. Sounds a little oxymoronic doesn’t it!

So lesbians think that business owners shouldn’t promote their personal beliefs on their property. So why is the Durham District School Board flying the Rainbow flag at every Oshawa public school? Aren’t they promoting their collective and personal beliefs? Racist pigs!

Well if you believe like the shop keeper believes. Then get his catalogue and buy his goods. You’ll probably get the best deal at the right price because as it’s going out of his province you don’t have to pay provincial sales tax

Great comparison to the Toronto Church St community businesses and what is happening in Newfoundland. Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with the shop owner, it is a free speech issue. Leftards do not want any free speech, hence the fuss. Just shut up comrade, and we (the lefties) will tell you what you are allowed to think or say. The path to “equal rights for everyone”, Communist style.
