(NOTE: Justin Trudeau ejected Jody Wilson-Raybould from the Liberal caucus after this show was taped...)
For nearly two months, the Liberals have been trying to talk anything other than the SNC-Lavalin scandal.
Even their awful decision to bring in a job-killing, price-hiking, poverty-creating carbon tax has fizzled as a channel-changer.
Liberal MPs haven’t been helping either — for the first time in years, they are bickering in public: Sheila Copps, Rob Oliphant, Wayne Easter...
Some pundits say that the SNC-Lavalin scandal is hard to understand, but the polls show it’s definitely taking a bite. Every single pollster now shows the Liberals trailing, and many show that if an election were held today, the Conservatives would form a majority.
Jody Wilson-Raybould has been quite clear: she believes Justin Trudeau is unethical. Jane Philpott was even clearer, when she resigned — she just said she couldn’t be a part of cabinet that was so unethical. She went even further in an interview with Maclean’s magazine.
(But why are both of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott running again in the next election — as Liberals?)
Jody Wilson-Raybould was banned from testifying against before the House of Commons justice committee, after the Liberals on that committee voted against it. But then she released a recording of a phone call she had with Michael Wernick, the clerk of the Privy Counsel.
The recording proves that Trudeau was sending his man to badger her; months after the decision was already made to prosecute, Trudeau was pressuring her to change her mind.
Now, to be sure, Wilson-Raybould's own comments were self-serving — she knew she was recording herself. But so what? It proves the point that Wernick surely would have denied were it not on tape: she objected to the pressure.
In fact, Trudeau has specifically said JWR had never objected to the pressure.
So that’s a lie.
Many Liberal MPs must be disillusioned. Every Trudeau fan is — even the Trdueau-lovers at Macleans. They call him "the imposter" now. Only the journalists that he literally pays, like Rosemary Barton of the CBC, still carry his water, and it’s just pitiful.
So how will this all end? We’ll find out...
