On last night’s episode of The Ezra Levant Show, senior editor-at-large for Breitbart News, Joel Pollak, joined me to talk about President Trump’s second State of the Union address, which received a high approval rating in polls conducted right after the broadcast.
But, in a throw-away line that veered from the script, Trump suggested he wants more immigration than ever which seems to be at odds with the whole idea of a crackdown on immigration and the promised, but not yet delivered, wall.
Is there some way to square that circle?
American unemployment is at some of the lowest rates in recent history and last week Trump announced a “Buy American” provision so there’s going to be pressure from some factories who may want more cheap workers, yet the whole promise to the Rust Belt was that he would get them higher wages by cracking down on foreign imports.
Watch as Joel explains why he doesn’t think that restricting legal immigration is going to make American workers better off.
