There's nothing Hollywood celebrities love more than lecturing Americans about the need for gun control. This past week, Academy Award winner Julianne Moore used an appearance on The View to push for gun control with some completely nonsensical arguments.
Here are some of Moore's gems from this appearance:
“You know, people like to talk about it as if it’s a Second Amendment issue. It’s a safety issue."
“A gun is a machine. You know, when cars were introduced we had any number of fatalities because we didn’t have safety regulations–we didn’t have seatbelts and speed limits and airbags–so we’re asking for those same kinds of things with guns–registration, licensing, background checks…limitations on the number of firearms you can own.”
First of all, Julianne, this actually is a Second Amendment issue because it's that amendment that guarantees Americans the right to bear arms.
Secondly, had Moore done any research, she would have realized that nearly every gun control measure she mentioned is already in affect in California.
Third of all, it's funny that Moore would bring up cars, because studies show that owning a car is far more dangerous than owning a gun.
Finally, in an ultimate twist of irony, Moore was appearing on The View to promote her new movie Kingsman: Golden Circle. The film is a shoot-em-up action movie that features heavy and graphic gun violence. Clearly, Moore has no problem glorifying guns when it comes to a starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster.
