Karl Lagerfeld, the Trump of the Fashion Industry

Martina MarkotaRebel Contributor

Karl Lagerfeld has died at the age of 85. He was the hugely famous creative director for Chanel, and a legendary high fashion goth.

I was a huge fan of his, and I’m extremely sad to see that he’s passed.

Today, I wanted to take a look at some of his bravery. He was one man at the center of the liberal world of the arts, who was willing to stand up for what is right and say some uncomfortable truths.

He was fed up of the #MeToo movement, and he was sick and tired of Angela Merkel’s migration policy. He was the Trump of the fashion industry.

Thanks for this nice tribute Martina – I’ve admired Karl Lagerfeld for a long time and am also extremely sad that he has died. Still a workaholic at age 85 – what an inspiration! I’ve always loved his style, humour and outspoken manner – and I totally agree with the idea of dressing to show respect for yourself and those around you. My heart goes out to little Choupette, who is by now missing him terribly.

He was an interesting man. Despite being gay, he was against same sex marriage and gays/lesbians having children.
I know what he means about sweat pants! Yikes.

Fashion is fascism. I wear what I like, not what everybody is talking about.
