Kevin O'Leary's $1M pledge to Notley shows he doesn't understand Alberta's real problems

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

Kevin O’Leary, the TV celebrity investor from shows like Dragon’s Den, just said that if Alberta’s premier Rachel Notley resigns, he’ll invest a million dollars in Alberta’s oil and gas industry.

First, Alberta’s oil patch needs tens of billions of dollars to revive.

But here’s the biggest point. To bribe someone, you have to offer them something that they want.

And Rachel Notley has made it pretty clear she does not want investment in the oil and gas industry.

O’Leary said that Rachel Notley quote, "doesn’t know what she’s doing."

Once you understand that she’s about ending the oil and gas economy, then you realize she knows exactly what she’s doing it, and she’s doing it well.

I recall his days on BNN and his co-host was positively left of centre. How can you have socialists on a Business Network?

Don, Ezra doesn’t like the Alberta PC’s very much. He’s much more a Wild Rose guy. Thanks for paying attention.

Canada is committing economic suicide. Going green is synonymous for going poor and Canada is going green to spite itself. On the West coast the feds are restricting shipping and the BC government is blocking pipelines. Over the mountains to the East the NDP are doing everything they can to destroy the oil and gas industries. In Ontario, where solar and wind produce only three percent of the provinces power, electricity rates are doubling to pay for it. Since Ontario’s Green Plan was implemented more that 10 000 businesses and companies have shut down or left the province. Quebec’s green plan is to block pipelines to the East. In the Maritime provinces, fracking for oil and gas is being blocked because of irrational fears. While In the USA fracking has made the Americans the largest oil and gas producers in the world. The federal Liberals during the election promised to run deficits to the detriment of investors confidence and the Canadian dollar is crashing. There is absolutely nothing in Canada’s future given the current regimes to bring business and industry back to Canada. Canadian’s with their phoney green morality are ignorant and stupid. They think that prosperity and well being will happen all on it’s own. Just like the budget will balance itself. Economic disaster and increasing poverty will be the result.

At least O’Leary has the nerve to speak out! THE NDP ARE the whole problem in Alberta. Such a mistake to ever put the NDP OR LIBERALS in power anywhere.

He is one man

If a thousand like him volunteered to do this the world would take notice

And yes, there are enough people in Canada that this could be done.

I like his point and his effort and the fact that he REALIZES and ACKNOWLEDGES the trouble starts with Alberta ndp

Few people in Canada actually get that

Good on ya’ Kevin!

O’Leary was making a point, and that is, investment will never return to Alberta as long as the NDP are in power.
commented 2016-01-13 09:45:52 -0500
To the contrary , O’Leary knows what’s wrong , Notley, when she’s gone, Alberta could move to a more open economy, the snag is the NDP, when gone things will go better.
commented 2016-01-13 09:32:39 -0500
Every province has to learn the hard way..Just as Ontario did with the NDP when they elected moron Rae
Noltey will never see the light of day after the next election and then become a fiberal

Disappointed with Ezra on this one. Surely he understand the intent of O’Leary’s offer, as described my other posters here.
Lots of other important things to talk about. Thanks to O’Leary for telling it like it is.

At least oleary cares about alberta, the same cannot be said for the NDP or the LIBS

I think Ezra is taking O’Leary a little bit too literally. I am sure that O’Leary knows that $1 Million is not going to reverse Alberta’s woes and I am sure that he knows the Premier is not going to resign in exchange for this offer. He is just putting his money where his mouth is in order to make a point.

I wonder if O’Leary would make a great next leader of the conservative party? Perhaps he could be Canada’s version of Donald Trump. He couldn’t be worse than any of the other losers being bandied about as a replacement for Harper.

Yes indeed it’s time to put the scissors away, kick the kids back out to the playground and bring the adults back to the table to try to fix this mess.

Bruce, nicely said, we have to start all over again to get rid of the diseased union bureaucrats and civil servants, parasites they all are, but that would require a huge revolt from Albertans and we are much too passive for that to ever happen. Wishful thinking.

Nigel S. Wright said he will cut Kevin O’Leary
a check for $2 million , if he can pull this off.
Harper told reporters he knows nothing…. wink emoticon

Political terrorism. Ideologies are toxic to society. Motleys crew is bent on ideology with no consideration for common sense. No reason or accountability

Ezra had one of his few bad days when he wrote against O’leary. Ezra is involved in in the massive job of rebuilding the Conserative party, and he is starting a fight with a popular person that can bring with him a million votes.

I think what Oleary meant by saying that Notley doesn’t know what she’s doing, he was referring to the fact that she’s killing AB with all her additional tax grab, etc & that she’s too stupid to realize it.

To be perfectly honest, I stopped listening or watching CBC years ago, except for hockey, which is pretty much done in a year for CBC. So I really don’t know who O’Leary is, nor do I intend to find out.

We are in deep sh’t in Canada and Alberta. At least Senior had Bennett, Lougheed, Blakney and Davis to keep him in line. Now Junior has to contend with Ma Wynne and Ma Notley, only countered by half a B/C (NE) Clarke and Wall, both too small to save us against Junior like the big four did against Senior.

In short, Whalmsey, the Martian, had better odds than Canada does.

Ezra I took away a different opinion in regard to Kevin O’Leary’s comments. I feel a man of his stature and mind for business realizes that a million dollars is peanuts to the oil industry. My opinion is that he is trying to get an adult conversation started into regard to Alberta’s economy. The premier isn’t the problem her policies are! It’s time the politicians of all stripes get to work instead off flying around the world giving billions of our tax dollars to other countries, just to look good on the world stage. A million is chum change but 2.5 plus billion for photo opps is irresponsible and in-conceivable!
commented 2016-01-12 19:30:43 -0500
David , I just have to say , did you see the story on Obama wanting to fund pipelines in Kenya, so that they can sell their oil ? It’s ok for him to use his country’s taxpayers money for that and yet further land locking ours with the help of nutley’ communist brigade?

Mancave…you’d have liked Mr. Wonderful on CBC today….he shut that shrieking harridan Rosie Barton up big time…!
commented 2016-01-12 18:48:28 -0500
When you say Kevin O’Leary is wrong you are absolutely correct. As long as the world price of oil remains low and the USA doesn’t want Alberta’s oil, it is irrelevant who the Premier or governing party is, it is ONLY about supply and demand.
commented 2016-01-12 17:44:14 -0500
Mr. Wonderful has proven is business savvy. I’m sure he really understands the problem so he just wanted to emphasise that Nothingley HAS to go. Thank you Mr. O’Leary.

I don’t normally support symbolism over substance, but regardless of whether it’s one million dollars or tens of billions of dollars, I appreciate Kevin’s effort.

His voice certainly reaches more ears than mine does, and perhaps more than all us Rebels combined, and I generally believe that the more people hear about the disastrous failures of this communist tyrant the better.
commented 2016-01-12 17:11:30 -0500
great analysis as usual Ezra!

to further bruces comments we could stop this communization by returning power to the municipalities and local health boards. re instituting property rights for private citizens and all this could be done in a 4 year term with the right majority government

Honestly, I’m ok with O’Leary doing this. At least he’s a public figure that is bringing light to the fact that she’s screwing up. Maybe it’ll help get some heat on her. Either way, any chance to call out Notley for the b.s. that she’s doing is a good opportunity.
commented 2016-01-12 16:34:55 -0500
Yannie, that’s a communist dictator for ya. Blame free enterprises for all the worlds ills, when it is the left that is now running scared all over the world. Freedom loving people are starting to wake up to what the UN and their collaborators are trying to do. In Alberta it was people like that crook Redford, a UN stooge, that brought this disease to Alberta, this scourge will be ran out soon enough, I’m predicting by this fall.

I just saw a news clip and all the guy got out of it was you can’t blame her for thirty dollar oil. Then he called Kevin O’Leary a moron. I hope he see your clip and maybe he will apologize. He was on ctv news

Notley just concluded a news conference and answered to O’Leary: “Last time wealthy men tried to tell voters how to vote, I wound up Premier.” Let’s see Levant put one of his fearmongering spins on that one!
