Koch cancels Alberta oil project: Notley’s “toxic” climate leadership plan to blame

Sheila Gunn ReidRebel Commentator

Rachel Notley’s bad policies have claimed another oil project and hundreds of Alberta jobs. Koch is cancelling their 10,000 bpd Muskwa SAGD project.

Koch vice-president Byron Lutes told the Alberta Energy Regulator:

“Koch Oil Sands Operating ULC does not believe the current nor medium term economic environment in Alberta will provide opportunity to generate an adequate return on the required capital for construction of the Muskwa SAGD project’...

The longer term risk of the project is further burdened with regulatory uncertainty around the Climate Leadership Program and its potential impacts on the project, from carbon tax to the emissions cap, both recently legislated by the Alberta government”

Hundreds of long term jobs in production, extraction, and trucking are just gone, thanks to the toxic Climate Leadership Plan and Rachel Notley's crazy regulations.

Earl Richards said, “To create jobs, Notley has to build refineries.”

Thus turning the export of one product, crude oil, into may highly flammable and dangerous to transport products.

No, refineries need to be located near high population areas.

The insanity of the “Warmists” is on full display in Alberta . . .

It’s just three minutes of Primary School CO2 Science that the Government doesn’t want made public.
This three-minute video puts carbon dioxide into perspective.
You really should watch this. WHY? Because when someone asks, you will then know the answer!
Yes, it’s principally aimed at Aussies but the science, not hype, is universal.

Hey, Rebel staff, why is this important story we have here already taken off the top stories sbove?
commented 2016-12-19 13:42:26 -0500
Kelvin, I agree, when The Rebel had their punitive carbon tax rallies, the msm’s outrage of three little harmless words was put on ctv 8 minutes into their broadcast and the damn reporter called us "alt-right and radical right people protesting. I was so damn mad I could have thrown my shoes at this useful msm mouth piece for nutley. Shame on ctv, cbc, global, CHED 630, QR77 and many other news outlet who continue to promote nutley destruction of our beautiful province.

Roy, I stopped listening to qr77 after Dave Rutherford quit or got fired, I’m still not sure what happened, I do know that he was pissed over how his station was handling the coverage of the floods in Calgary and High River. When disasters strike in Alberta like tornados, floods and fires even something as simple as power outages, the Alberta media and its coverage is to say the least deplorable. Our early warning capabilities to keep citizens informed are lacking. I remember a few years ago when we were out of power for 12 days, there was barely a whimper from the Alberta media. If there is no mention of a disaster then there will be no help. The same with if there is no press to inform people of criminal activity in government and piss poor management, then how can you possibly get people out to demonstrate. As long as the left is allowed to dominate the air waves the longer it will take for the west to rise again.

When the carbon /sales tax comes through in January then we will get 50,000 in front of the legislature. No one will have jobs, Nothing better to do. It would be 100,000 but not everyone can afford to take a trip. Oh right Ratchel says we can walk or ride a bike from LLoydminster, Reddeer Calgary……. .

Msm in Alberta are definitely and absolutely in compliance with this evil witch nutley since she has bought them all with 10.3 million dollars of our hard-earned money. I can’t and won’t listen to their adding-and-abetting destruction of our beautiful province. There isn’t a word of complaint about nutley’s unbearable assault on us all. The msm are assured of their jobs for now so, of course, they don’t say boo about the huge burden and job losses and suffering we are facing. It’s like the msm couldn’t care less mimicking nutley’s evil agenda.
I agree with you Deborah, we need to start doing something against the msm. I know I don’t listen to CHED 630, Ryan Jesperson anymore. He is rank and fully in favour of nutley and I call him the “KNOW-IT-ALL PREACHER MAN”. He waffles all the time and his accentuated talk drives me crazy. Don’t listen to ctv, cbc and global in Calgary and Edmonton are very bad as well.

This is likely the tip of the iceberg in Alberta. The pullout of energy investment, the failure of businesses like the Calgary greenhouse operator, the job loss from coal phaseout is all just getting under way. For what? I recently wrote to my MLA, Annie Mckitrick, to ask specifically what the Climate Leadership Program target is,in degrees C of warming avoided, by the implementation of this tax, and what measures are in place to determine its effectiveness. Shouldn’t there be a method to tell if the goal is being achieved? I know the answer already of course. This tax is really all about ideology, nothing more. Any sensible government could see this is no time for a pointless, regressive tax.

That’s right Deborah, if you take away the propaganda wing away from these left wing governments, they will cease to exist. This is why, world wide , media outlets have started this ‘fake news campaign’. It’s desperation time and they know that their lies are being exposed. They are getting caught spreading fake news and false narratives every day. The latest doozy about the Russian hacking? Wow!!

ROY JEANINE, “Albertans don’t seem too concerned with all her ripping us off. There should have been 50,000 in front of the legislature. My God, what will it take to wake people up???”
Indeed, like sheep going to the slaughter. As I have proposed before, how about a mass protest of 50,000+ surrounding the legislature telling Notley and her evil left-wing crew to get out!
With respect to Suncor, remember Ezra’s appeal from October 11, 2016, “Help save Suncor by “stranding” CEO Steve Williams”, because Suncor’s CEO, of all things, believes that oil companies should leave the oil in the ground!:

“…There should have been 50,000 in front of the legislature. My God, what will it take to wake people up??? "

Been asking myself that for years. The answer? Nothing will work. Nothing.

Because when it comes to taking meaningful action, 99 % of Canadians are just too (pick the category) stupid, yellow, lazy, or self-interested to bother.

Notley is buying compliance of companies like Suncor with our tax dollars. Shame on them for not standing up for the people. It is obvious that they only care about their shareholders.
commented 2016-12-19 11:18:17 -0500
Kelvin – It might be better to get people to picket in front of the lying MSM offices. So far nothing the people protest about at our legislature moves these communists. So I think it would be better to protest vocally in front of the MSM, and go after the companies that are advertising through them. I know those who are advertising will not want to loses business. We need to hurt their bottom line, because money talks. Though Notley is keeping the MSM fat and happy with our tax dollars right now. The companies who are advertising aren’t directly given tax payer dollars, at least not to my knowledge. Since the MSM are aiding and abetting the liars and destroyers that are in office, we need to go after them. They aren’t used to being attacked directly by the citizens.

I still remember the CEO of Suncor standing behind nutley when she announced this punitive, thieving, useless, family destructive and business destructive carbon tax clapping, absolutely unbelievable and waiting for her government subsidies. The oil companies have NEVER defended themselves against the deceptive garbage environmental groups when they started their ASSAULT on the oil and gas in this province. Why is that? And now oil and gas will be receiving goodies from nutley to scale down their operations. Why are the oil and gas being exempt from this destructive carbon tax?
I saw a beautiful big family-owned greenhouse east of Calgary having to pull all their tomato plants and other plants as well because they are closing their doors due to nutley’s attack and assault on Albertans. They stated they can no longer stay in business because of this carbon tax, 2 minimum wage hikes and Bill 6, nutley’s Favorite Bill (as she puts it) aimed to crush family farms and businesses. I cannot believe that only 3,000 in Edmonton and 1,100 in Calgary showed up against all her destruction. Albertans don’t seem too concerned with all her ripping us off. There should have been 50,000 in front of the legislature. My God, what will it take to wake people up???
commented 2016-12-19 11:15:07 -0500
She should be hung for what she is doing to the economy in that province!
commented 2016-12-19 11:14:09 -0500
Kelvin – there are ways to block / cancel signals – law enforcement often use this – why can’t we?? LOL
Just think – if all of Alberta was off the MSM grid for 1 month?! …nothing coming in & nothing going out. Make Alberta a “tight” hole. I’m sure business would get done in all fields.

Buying bricks to build up the rebel is a great idea, but I have another use for bricks, they can also be used to knock out the windows of all the media outlets. With a sharpie you can leave a note on said brick or even sign it ’with love from me to you for never telling what is true ’ , poetry bricks!!!!!

“…it’s even worse than “crickets”. "

Absolutely, RON VOSS. It’s called aiding and abetting. And the CAPP has lots of corporate help. Countless companies have abandoned any pretense of honesty and jumped on the Carbon-Apocalypse-Pending bandwagon.

In Ontario, these corporate hypocrites sign up for the “Retrofit Program” and get a 20% reduction on their energy costs by agreeing to promote the virtues of Ontario’s official green plan. Guess who picks up their shortfall?

https://saveonenergy.ca/Business/Program-Overviews/Retrofit-for-Commercial/Participate-and-Save.aspx

And our stupid, uncurious, childish press couldn’t smell shit if their faces were stuck in a full diaper.

DEBORAH GRAUPNER, “Just imagine how truly evil the hearts of these activists are. To intentionally destroy lives and families….. This is the real Notley. Smiling with glee at her constant attacks on jobs, as the suicide rate increases. She has blood on her hands, and yet she continues with her plans of destruction”.
Meanwhile, the lamestream leftist media gets their noses out of joint because of a group of protesting Albertans appropriately chanting “Lock her up!”.

Nutley & TruDope are bruising for a revolution – like their idol country of Cuba & South America! Her apparent disregard for her own safety – totally eludes this lunatic skank!! Maybe Occupational Health needs to be brought in – surely her deeds are far more treacherous than those of us in oil patch workers.
Surely they have some regulation regarding the risk of Treason!

JAMIE MACMASTER, meanwhile from the CAPP, it’s even worse than “crickets”. According to a November 2015 press release, praising Notley’s plan!:
Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan provides direction that will allow the oil and natural gas industry to grow, further enhance its environmental performance through technological innovation, and is expected to improve market access to allow Canadian oil to reach more markets, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) said today.

The NDP are so excited their plans to shut down oil and gas businesses in Alberta is working exactly as planned that they are peeing their pants excitement.

With their attack on the oil and gas industry and the agricultural community going exactly as planned, and with around 200,000 job losses in Alberta, the NDP can hardly contain their jubilance and unmitigated glee, and all in time for the “holiday” season.

They cannot think of a better “holiday” present!

Well done Rachel Notley! You win! You have cut down Alberta and the socialist media is so very in love with you for having done your job so well!

Congratz, Notley, you win the effing bastard award!

Canada imports 600,00 barrels from half way round the world. I suspect these people are funded by those countries. Canada can supply all Canada,s oil and job needs if these two governments would let us.

Smiling with glee at her constant attacks on jobs, as the suicide rate increases. She has blood on her hands, and yet she continues with her plans of destruction. She’s fool of the first order. We the peoples should start a lawsuit against this traitor to AB. I can’t wait to see that sickening narcissistic smile wiped off her face.
