As part of my coverage of the French presidential election, I talked to Marine Le Pen's Senior Political Advisor, Jean Messiha. He came to France from Egypt as a child, when the country’s immigration and assimilation process was very different.
Messiha explains that this is why he agrees with Le Pen's immigration policies:
France, he explains, is “a plural racial country, but also a uni-cultural country.”
Messiha says the world is entering a new paradigm, and Le Pen's political project is the only one looking forward, to the future.
Her opponent, Marcon, he says, "is a man of the past," with an agenda that belongs in the 1980s, but not today.
