Leap Manifesto: WATCH Suzuki, panelists laugh when supporter asks to hear "the economic argument that we can afford this"

Brian LilleyArchive

Tom Mulcair wants you to know he's a real moderate and not an old-fashioned crazy socialist.

But things got uncomfortable for Mulcair this week when a group of his lefty friends and supporters called for an overthrow of the capitalist system.

They unveiled something called the Leap Manifesto.

It wants to do away with capitalism and fossil fuels while broadening "the social safety net" and admitting more refugees.

When one of their own grassroots supporters in the audience sincerely asked how they could afford all this, the panelists -- elite superstar socialists like David Suzuki and Naomi Klein -- just laughed.

But it's a serious question:

How exactly would the Leap Manifesto even work?

One of its platforms is, "If you don't want it in your own backyard, we can't do it." What? Everyone has a veto now? So what if I... don't want to implement this manifesto? Oh, that must be different...

How will Muclair and Justin Trudeau respond to this high-profile demand to make over Canada completely?

I just did a re-read of this posting and comments after two days, and had one parting thought about the hypocrisy of the Naomi Klein elites… Say, aren’t those optical grade – gasp! – PLASTIC lenses she’s wearing?? Naomi sweetie – tell me it isn’t so!… And if I may be so “indelicate” – what are your pantyhose made of – NYLON, DACRON, what???

You guys make a lot of points about the different conspiracies that is the motivation for the man made global warming crusade. I personally can’t stand Suzuki and his wealth off of it. We should get our national broadcaster, The CBC, to investigate into this further. After all, they are funded by taxpayers. I am sure they will give us responsible and objective reporting. Noooooooooooooooooooooot.

Richard Brinkman,
That sound bite should be enough to convince you the farce about man made global warming. What was so funny to be laughed at? The lady, who was their supporter, asked a very good question. And those little guilty like laughs as they gazed into each others eyes. Priceless.
When we face true environmental issues, we act. Look what we did with acid rain.
And please spare us these continued attempts to make us feel guilty about our children and grandchildren. Think about what we will leave our children and grand children if we continue down this path to bankruptcy that you call man made global warming. NOTHING.

“To me the use of the term “manifesto” has a connotation of things socialist, communist, of things that take away freedom of thought and speech, etc., etc. Did you know that Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” is considered to be a manifesto? Perhaps this is why the term “manifesto” scares the crap out of me!"

Boy oh boy did Brian Lilley hit the truth on this issue, these NDP and Liberal people are a dangerous threat to Canadian citizens’ they would tale us back to the stoneage given an election win!

Not for my family and I – I am voting Conservative that is the only common sense vote in this election!
Otherwise, should one of the other partys’ get in……we may have to contemplate moving to a safer country?
Our family desires to live in a free Democracy traditional Canadian style and values – where it is not just NDP or Liberal people that can do as they dam well please while stepping on and imposing on other people’s rights because they believe they need to think and make decisions’ for people who have a different political view than them!
It is getting absolutely ridiculous, seems we are repeating the lead up to the fall Germany took before WWII.

Klein admits progressive policies on the environment are really about the overthrow of capitalism.
Klein writes “Our economic model is at war with the Earth. We cannot change the laws of nature. But we can change our economy. Climate change is our best chance to demand and build a better world.”
This Changes Nothing.

Brinkman said: “The earth will go on without us…” No. Lefties will go on without us… pay for their whims and extravagances……….! “time is running out…” OMG! OMG! The sky is falling! A. G. W.?? Wasn’t it about the time this scam was being promoted that NASA determined that Mars was experiencing a “warming” of it’s own? The lefties would argue we are responsible for that too. NASA determined it had to do with cycles of the Sun.

They just want everyone unemployed…..easier to control….for a while………..! Leave the oil and gas in the ground? Does freezing to death in the dark mean anything? Oh wait, don’t lefties want to de-populate (except themselves)! How novel. And no bullets required!

LOL, Suzuki is on record in saying that Canada is full and that we cannot accept any more immigration…. seems he has changed his tune.

My neighbour is an NDP activist and a supporter of this crap. She went from University, to back packing in Europe for a year then to her first job, a teacher for 55k per year, now 84k… and she has and obscene tax payer subsidized and guaranteed pension awaiting her when she turns 57.,, She is so out of touch with reality.. Unless an absurd event, she cannot be fired. Her husband left her and even the courts awarded custody to he ex…. she is a bonified nut-case… thankfully she ‘teaches’ in another district. She has no idea what it means to earn one’s wages and to save for the future… in her books, we need to support NDP socialism and a green economy, no oil, deferring Canada’s sovereignty to First Nations, giving everyone a union job and huge pension to reduce poverty with the stroke of a pen on a labour contract. It seems so simple to her and she cannot understand why we have such a heartless and uncaring government who could so easily make a utopian paradise if they wanted to… her supporting NDP and the Lead Manifesto is crazy…. but her ‘teaching’ children is obscene.

Mulcair is probably thinking to himself: With friends like this who needs enemies. Couldn’t you guys have kept this under the wraps until after the election?
commented 2015-09-16 14:03:32 -0400
“Or [Stephen] Lewis, who publicly said that the document is essentially NDP policy.
“For the New Democrats, it’s an extension of the kinds of things they’ve been talking about,” he said.

In short, the N.D.P. have a not so hidden agenda. It is just out sooner than Mr. Mulcair would have liked.

Mind you I note that the promulgators of this document are not suggesting it should apply to them. They need to lead by example and sign a vow of poverty, give away their land and money, and live like Jainist Monks. For example, Dr. Suzuki, C.B.C.‘s affirmative action hire of the 70’s, should give his Vancouver properties away to the first nations whose un-ceded land those properties occupy…I’m sure the nations will rent him a room for his family.

Every time I read the word "manifesto " it conjures up visions of communists and serial killers

Brinkman I really believe that you should offer your services to the Shiny Pony or Angry Tom. They need all the help they can get and after reading all the ‘wise’ stuff you think of and write I believe you will be able to help one of these on the campaign path. If they don’t accept you then I strongly suggest that you join the Suzuki club and help him out, he seems to be stuck in a rut – he laughed when asked a sensible question, because he couldn’t think of an answer. You would have helped him with your answers that you write here.
I have a question for you Dick, do you listen to your ranting’s and really believe in them? Dick.

All I will say is why do you think the NDP in Alberta will not release their budget until after the federal election, because it will show that their path is to destroy the oil patch as well as the economy. If the rest of the country saw this then they would not vote for the NDP. There is another month to go before the election so I am hopeful more info will come out from the NDP camp in regards to their plan to destroy the economy.
commented 2015-09-16 12:49:49 -0400
Richard Douglas Brinkman I don’t care if you want to believe in the gloom and doom of your and their rantings. I don’t. Many others on this site also don’t. Many more Canadians that don’t talk about it also don’t.
Also your tactic of using the Ezra Levant doesn’t support Oil Sands workers because of one guy in dispute with Workman’s Comp is the same as the Liberals using a few vets that feel ripped off. They are the exceptions not the rule. Your way of using them as a foundation of your fear mongering is completely transparent. Oh is that the Liberal idea of transparency? I finally found it. It certainly isn’t transparency on what money goes where and how it’s used. This we can see in the laugh fest when asked about how this silly plan would be financed. I get the feeling it’s a “Trust Us” situation here not a real idea of where money will come from and how it will be spent. So please screw off with your fear mongering for our future and “the children, think of the children” ranting to forward your agenda. If you want to shit your pants every time someone comes up with a theory of our future please feel free. I however will not nor will I bend to this bullshit “manifesto” of how we all will be better off. Like Communism, looks good on paper in theory but it really doesn’t work in the real world and is why it was an artificial system that took over from the naturally developed capitalist system of paying with things with other things you have, including cash. I like our system the way it is and has been for centuries.

Oops, poor mulcair he didn’t realize that his commie pals were so arrogant as to release the manifesto so early in the election. It will be fun to watch him squirm out of this one. I hope the heck that this comes up during the next debate and the PM does his homework on this subject to slam him with, over and over again. Btw Brinkman it must have been the native Indians that started the climate change, after all the Colorado river went dry in the 1700’s.

What an assembly of lefty wing nuts collected all together in one room (noticed Maude Barlow of the Council of Canadians to the left of Klein) all laughing uncontrollably like a choir when a supporter makes a reasonable request to hear “the economic argument that we can afford this”. Who opened the door to the nut house? This gang of ‘progressives’ are pressing the people, I mean sheeple, to buy into the Leap Manifesto, to become like lemmings (in PETER NETTERVILLE’s words, “lemming idiots”) and take a leap into the utopian world of socialism and communism. Yikes!
All these prime examples of Lenin’s so-called “useful idiots” are deeply infected by the ‘progressive’ socialist retrovirus:

I hope there are some commies out there who read the Financial Post.

An excerpt from Peter Foster’s column:
The “Leap Manifesto” issued on Tuesday by an asylum full of celebrity victims of Harper Derangement Syndrome – led by Naomi Klein and David Suzuki – is certainly a thought-provoking platform. The main thoughts it provokes are:
Does achieving celebrity cause a sharp drop in IQ and increase in hypocrisy, or does all-consuming artistic ego and/or power-hungry socialist inclination prevent all logical thought?
Does becoming rich as an entertainer or novelist under the capitalist system automatically make you blind to the wealth generated by that system – in particular your own – and lead you to take every opportunity to chomp on the Invisible Hand?
Or does celebrity make you so desperate to be part of the in crowd that you just sign on any dotted line for a “Good Cause” that appears in front of you?

Why is it that the lefties that post on this website buy into lock, stock and barrel all of these retarded extreme socialist and communist ideas.

It is like the very second these lefties hear or read about the latest whacko “progressive” idea, without any though or hesitation they dive into it head first and then defend it tooth and nail. What a bunch of lemming idiots!!!
commented 2015-09-16 12:09:40 -0400
LLRFU – I noticed the CBC article comments are disabled. Hmmmmm… I wonder why? Probably because even they usual insane leftie posters might call this whole manifesto an insane idea.

Many on the Left are going absolutely freaking crazy! I think we are seeing the complete breakdown of any intellectual value remaining in the extreme Leftists.

Lord save us from progressive liberals and socialist justice warriors and their delusional rantings and ravings like, ‘The Leap to Communism Manifesto’!

@ Rodger :-) – we can always just print more and drop it from helicopters after all. There’s plenty for everyone. Or at least for those in charge.

Bankers love left wing politicians who like to spend. The two go together like peas and carrots. Ironic when you think about it really – the people who want to destroy capitalism will use it indiscriminately to destroy us all. Print Print Print – Borrow Borrow Borrow. Consequences be damned. But then – there in lies the problem – the financial system isn’t really capitalist is it? The unholy alliance between our governments and our financial ‘system’ has corrupted our ‘democracies’ and turned them into kleptocracies where we vote once every four years to see who will get the big hammer – each side drooling and fawning at the opportunity to beat the other with it and line their pockets with public debt in the process. It’s pretty sick when you think about it. Not sure what it will take to change things at this stage? Looks like we are going to slip into the communist abyss as a ‘solution’ – dark times ahead if we do.

Margaret Thatcher has been credited with saying this, although I believe it was said well before she did. “Socialism only works, until you run out of other peoples money”.
