Tom Mulcair wants you to know he's a real moderate and not an old-fashioned crazy socialist.
But things got uncomfortable for Mulcair this week when a group of his lefty friends and supporters called for an overthrow of the capitalist system.
They unveiled something called the Leap Manifesto.
It wants to do away with capitalism and fossil fuels while broadening "the social safety net" and admitting more refugees.
When one of their own grassroots supporters in the audience sincerely asked how they could afford all this, the panelists -- elite superstar socialists like David Suzuki and Naomi Klein -- just laughed.
But it's a serious question:
How exactly would the Leap Manifesto even work?
One of its platforms is, "If you don't want it in your own backyard, we can't do it." What? Everyone has a veto now? So what if I... don't want to implement this manifesto? Oh, that must be different...
How will Muclair and Justin Trudeau respond to this high-profile demand to make over Canada completely?
