Left “frantic” over Jason Kenney’s majority UCP leadership win. Here’s why

Holly NicholasRebel Commentator

Over the weekend, Jason Kenney was voted in as leader of the United Conservative Party with 61.1% of the membership giving him their vote but of course, progressives went bananas on the internet suggesting the party’s new leader is “asinine” and “scary”.

They unleashed the same kind of rhetoric we’ve come to to expect from the left, but what’s really interesting is the reaction from political strategists and analysts who are comparing Kenney to Donald Trump and suggesting party members are homophobes that are a danger to the LGBTQ community.

Watch as I explain why this makes absolutely no sense on either count.

UCP MLA Dave Rodney has announced his retirement which paves the way for the new leader to seek the nomination in Calgary-Lougheed where his chances of winning are high since it’s a conservative stronghold.

Kenney managed to unite Alberta’s conservatives, win the leadership and now he’ll be running for a seat in the Legislature.

So far, he has seamlessly executed his political campaign plan.

Now, after proving that he can out-organize the left, Rachel Notley and her supporters should be worried.

Notley is asinine and scary . . . as is ALL of her Cabinet . . .
What is also asinine and scary are the fools that vote for the Socialist NDP . . . the party of Destruction!

Unemployment in the USA lowest in 18 years . . .
Business Confidence in the USA at 30 year high . . .
Albertans are hoping Kenny is a little like Trump . . . 10s of thousands might get their jobs BACK !

My only real complaint with Kenny is that he is too chicken to go on the rebel.

“asinine” and “scary”, just the kind of comments one would expect from the bullying left. Childish comments from childish people. Maybe we could persuade them to hold their breaths until they get what they want. At least he’s not Notley.

Rachel’s MSM and the union machine will be in constant attack mode from now until the election. Distorting a wee bit of truth into the biggest lies imaginable, and spreading them everywhere, with the assistance of the MSM, and the unions. The character assassination will go full throttle. The MSM fairy tale spinners will be working over time, trying to hang on to the taxpayers trough. Any rational person will be able to see through this communist leader. But her trail of economic destruction speaks for itself. And not to mention her constant put downs of the people of AB. Jason just has to keep turning the screws on her and her communist destroyers!

Stop worrying about the exact position of Kenney on the political spectrum , right , centrist , right centrist ,whatever. Not Notley , anything but Notley and her gang of socialists is more than acceptable. Complete dessimation of her and her party should be the goal, not just winning.

Billy Howard—-Good comparison of Kenney and Andrew Scheer. I would add the probable future Premier of Ontario Patrick Brown to that group.
The three of them are a new type of Politician : " Very Grey Conservatives."

I don’t like that he dissed the Rebel either, but maybe when he gets talking to Sheila Gunn Reid he’ll change his tune. Hopefully Sheila can get an interview with him soon!

I don’t like Kenney’s leftist views on freedom of the press by not embracing the only real conservative media: the Rebel. He should treat Ezra and his team in a similar manner to how Trump aligns with FoxNews as a balanced conservative news source. Just like CNN, CBC (and MSM in Canada in general) is “fake news” and leftist propaganda.
Kenney is not a populist because he’s onside with misogynistic face coverings and Sharia Law. Alberta will be electing a “centrist” at best. He’s not particularly right-of-centre on anything non-fiscal, IMO.
He reminds me of Scheer: he is dictated by MSM and Trudeau doctrine more so than average working Canadians.
Yes, he’ll be much better than Notley fiscally, but maybe not so much otherwise, regardless of Notley’s condemnations.

“Suggesting the party’s new leader is “asinine” and “scary”. As always the left is projecting their own characters upon their opponents. ZZZzzz…

Out of the three we had to choose from Kenney was by far the best choice. Brian Jean didn’t have the temperment, nor the will, to do what needs to be done. If nothing else, our legislature will be on fire for the battle of Alberta. Anyone willing to put themselves out there for the insane assault on their character that is brewing deserves our support.

Ooohhh? That sounded strange coming from Holly.

Andrew Stephenson what about the story about Jack Layton in the massage studio? That was based on truth and the left had a friggin cow when it was reported. I bet you flipped out over that one as well.
commented 2017-10-31 00:46:58 -0400
Just keep listening people, you ain’t heard nothing yet, the anti Kenny people will be getting more and more desperate and vial.

Andrew Stephenson sorry but false labels and baseless character assassination is far more than being picked on.

METTE REED—-in his sad but truthful post said, “If Kenney and the Cons really cared about Canada, we wouldn’t have had Mass Muslim Migration and an extreme Immigration agenda.
What Canadians have is a Hobsins choice of Globalists when it comes to selecting a Government. Kenney is a mass Multiculturalism pusher.” Pierre Trudeau would have loved to have Jason in his Cabinet.
I agree with all of the above, however Jason also has the Skills, Knowledge and Experience to make Alberta Great again. Keep him away from the Immigration Button and things will improve, otherwise the Building Boom he creates will consist of new Mosques.

All knowing Andrew….. it’s called facts, something the leftist regressives care nothing about. Being all knowing, one would think you would get that, but then realizing that when the facts don’t suit the narrative, facts get ignored.
commented 2017-10-30 23:05:59 -0400
Now that the Conservatives in Alberta are safely united, I want to say that I agree completely Mette Reed. I have been bashing Kenny for his temp worker and immigration policies since he was Harper’s Immigration /employment Minister and have the emails and hard copy letters to prove it. Kenny is stuck on this multicultural thing like it’s his religion. Funny the left think Kenny is far right. He isn’t right of center enough for me, not by a long shot.

However he will have Notley on the run and gone in no time flat. When he is Premier he will need some ‘tending’.

Andrew, Kenny is not doing any whining. The left are doing the whining. Disingenuous, dishonest, subterfuge.
commented 2017-10-30 23:02:56 -0400
Thomas Lakaszuk, is still a " complete asshole" how he could ever have been considered a Conservative is beyond me. He needs to be honest with Albertan’s and turn left at the next stop light and keep on walking. Painting Kenny as extreme right or comparing him to the Donald is just ridiculous, and disingenuous and a lie. Why do the left keep lying. It is their only defence, lying and hoping the voters won’t ever start to think for themselves. They continue to insult people this a way and the day will come when these lying politicians like Lakaszuk will be kicked to the curb. Their lies are an insult to people’s intelligence.

I for one muffin will not miss the NDP
commented 2017-10-30 22:23:37 -0400
I find it interesting that the first Rebel column on the matter spins Kenney not as a winner, but as a victim of the “left”.

I get the bluster. I really do. In absence of seat in the leg or any sort of definitive platform, that’s what you’ve got. But … the whining is a bit excessive, and not really helpful that you’re already trying to establish the perpetual victim narrative. It’s hard to be a convincing leader when all you do is whine about how the other kids pick on you.

What’s the worst thing left to call Jason Kenney?

“He’s a…ummmm asexual homophobe.”

That’s a new one.

“Okay. How about a closeted homophobe?”

Weirder. Try again.

“He’s an unfeeling, childless, 50-ish man who is so single and angry he will turn into Donald Trump.”

Sit tight because the next two years are going to be awesome.

War is coming.

Be ready.

According to Graham Thomson, a ‘progressive’ columnist with the Edmonton Journal, Kenney’s, “victory speech did indicate how he’ll tackle another thorny issue: How to reach out to average, moderate Albertans after running a campaign focused on the most conservative of conservatives to win the UCP vote?”
And the Globe & Mail quotes former ‘progressive’ PC cabinet minister Thomas Lakaszuk, “It’s going to be a very binary election. Centrist Albertans are going to have to turn right or left now. Personally, I think a lot of Albertans will hold their noses and vote NDP rather than support some of the extreme views that Jason represents. Jason Kenney’s Alberta isn’t around anymore. The province has changed. What’s that saying? ‘You can’t step into the same river twice.’ That’s Jason’s dilemma. People change and provinces change. Jason doesn’t understand that."
In 2012, Kenney called Lukaszuk, then Alberta’s deputy premier, a “complete asshole”.
And then Maclean’s opines, “Jason Kenney wooed Alberta’s conservatives. Next, the rest of Alberta. Throwing red meat to the base is fun, but Kenney’s social conservatism could now be a liability.”
You get the drift of the leftwing media singing from the same song sheet or script when it comes to vilifying Kenney. I like what Breitbart’s Steve Bannon had to say about the media, “Everything that you see on cable TV, on MSNBC or CNN or Fox, that’s pro-wrestling, that ‘s in the foreground, that’s to divert your attention from what’s really going on.”

The leaders’ debate during the last election was a disgrace. The moderator was only too eager to let Notley interrupt and shout down the others, and Jim Prentice repeatedly turned his back on Brian Jean, turning the spotlight on Notley in the process.
It’s a safe bet that we will be looking at something very different next time.

Canadian mongrel said..

“Minor news I find interesting is the NDP MLA who crossed to be a “social” independent has joined the Alberta Party. As minor as this seems, is it a harbinger of a split left. I think there are others in the NDP caucus who may have grown up enough that they want independent thought free of iron ideology.”

What you may be witnessing right in front of your eyes is the early infiltration of the newly formed UPC party.

Mette Reed.. you are bang on the money when you were speaking about Jason Kenney.. is a is a self-serving professional politician with no other life or trade skills so he will hang on to his political craft by any means possible or he’ll be selling used cars and he knows it..
The good life as we knew it is over and now the tricky part of politics will now be implemented.. That is how to assign and where to assign the blame for all our problems and why “things didn’t go right this time”. Everybody talks like the left is in trouble because the UPC has a leader… My paperboy could have upset the NDP government to majority win for himself This is just easy money for the UPC party.
When there is so many laws against the common folk pertaining to how they can defend themselves and what taxes mean to what they think they own or can own. The realization that they have no rights should be apparent and they should begin to suspect the years of supporting political parties while giving donations to their favourite ones as well as their time has only furthered the agenda that now binds them.! With shocking clarity they now realize they are only grist for the mill.
commented 2017-10-30 19:38:10 -0400
It does not matter who won the UPC leadership in the sense that the idiot lefties would attack relentlessly whomever won.

… Have to laugh that Brian Jean didn’t bother showing up for the first caucus meeting this morning. Shows Albertans made the right choice for leader!!!

The US has lost over 80,000 jobs due to trade agreements like NAFTA. During the US Election, Trump promised to bring all these jobs back to the US. He’s doing what the American people that voted for him expect him to do. These trade agreements are all part of a globalist agenda make no mistake. And, Trump knows that! Now that I’ve been made aware of this, I’m very suspicious of any politician that promotes these trade agreements including Conservatives. Kenney is a multiculturalism, and mass immigration pusher just like the rest of them so of course he would be on the defense of Trumps travel ban. If the Canadian government wasn’t so corrupt, then we’d have a travel ban too! If the Canadian government including Kenney and the Conservatives really cared about Canada, then we wouldn’t have mass muslim migration and an extreme immigration agenda from all parties. What we Canadians really have here is a hobson’s choice of Globalists when it comes to selecting a government!
