James Rolfe, life-long Ghostbusters fan and creator of the long-running web series 'Angry Video Game Nerd' has refused to review the female Ghost Busters film.
Rolfe, who runs the website Cinemassacre, made a video explaining why he wouldn't review the film and how it didn't deserve his money based on the trailers.
This, of course, has left-wingers annoyed as they assume the role of martyrs for the awful-looking pre-released film.
According to left-wing website Salon, “his refusal to see the eventual film is pretty strange, especially since thousands of people respect his obsessive and informed reviews. If he doesn’t like it, why not watch the movie and tell everyone.”
Other sites were more venomous in their attacks.
Uproxx writer Keith Phipps wrote, “[Rolfe] took what he seemed to believe was some kind of principled stand against the film by refusing to see or review it, a declaration delivered with the squinty, clenched-jaw righteousness of a protester standing in front of a tank in Tiananmen Square while offering a series of increasingly fragile justifications: that it shouldn’t be called Ghostbusters because this might confuse children; that it wasn’t the movie he wanted...”
Phipps, who clearly is thirsty for some beta male on radical feminist action, continued his attack on Th Nerd, saying, “Rolfe became the public face of of Ghostbusters resistance. He has plenty of unsavory allies. It’s quite possible that Rolfe’s objections have nothing to do with Ghostbusters being remade with female leads, but there’s no denying the unvarnished misogyny of others.”
If this wasn't bad enough, the website Birth Movies Death somehow turned Rolfe's criticisms into a rant about gender neutral washrooms. I'm dead serious.
In an article titled “The Soft Sexism Of Hating On The New GHOSTBUSTERS”, Devin Faraci wrote “I think the bathroom crusaders know they hate trans people. They’re using bathroom safety as a bulwark to not seem as bigoted. I don’t think 'Angry Video Game Nerd' knows that he’s having a sexist reaction to Ghostbusters. I think a lot of guys online DO know that, but I don’t think 'Angry Video Game Nerd' is sitting around stewing over women in Ghostbusters.”
More offended parties include state broadcaster/MSNBC North/ cbc "social media news reporter" John Bowman.
Not like the taxpayer-funded MSNBC of Canada has even remotely been unbiased regarding GamerGate or anything. How professional.
Also, Dane Cook, who may I add is actually less funny at his best than Rolfe is at his worst. James never said he hated that Ghostbusters was being updated with "hilarious women". Did the man even bother actually watching the video? Doesn't sound like.
He deleted the Instagram post, by the way. But on the internet nothing truly dies.
I myself am a huge fan of James Rolfe and the work he's done. I've seen every Angry Video Game Nerd episode multiple times and the only digital movie I have ever purchased was his feature Angry Video Game Nerd movie.
Never have I ever found the man to be sexist in ANY interview I've seen him do. The fact that these male feminists, thirsty for whatever action they could get at the next left-wing Feminists for Bernie event, attack Rolfe in such a way is flat out sickening. Yet, it's to be expected.
I can guarantee that in no way did Rolfe expect this kind of backlash. The man is anything but political, unlike Doug Walker/ Nostalgia Critic, who unfortunately has gone full SJW retard in many of his videos.
Go back and watch Rolfe's reviews of the Ghostbuster games as well as videos he may have done with Mike Matei on the franchise.
Feminists and left-wingers are martyrs for a film that looks terrible for the lone reason that it stars women. The bottom line is the movie looks BAD. And for a franchise as beloved as Ghostbusters to be rebooted in such a way, boycotting it isn't a bad move.
