The Christmas season is now in full swing, which means left-wingers are being triggered by any and all references to the Christian holiday.
This week, the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies have become the latest target, as the liberal publication Slate published a column slamming the movies for being "too white" and "two heterosexual." Slate whined about what it called Hallmark's "42 hours of sugary, sexist, preposterously plotted, plot hole–festooned, belligerently traditional, ecstatically Caucasian cheer."
"They brim with white heterosexuals who exclusively, emphatically, and endlessly bellow 'Merry Christmas' to every lumberjack and labradoodle they pass. They’re centered on beauty-pageant heroines and strong-jawed heroes with white-nationalist haircuts," the Slate writer declared.
Though the Christmas movies aren't political in nature, the writer goes so far as to call them "Trumpian."
"The Christmas-down-your-throat bombast, holly-jolly sexism, the characters’ zaniness and unyielding impulsiveness — it’s all very Trumpian behavior," the Slate writer said.
Unfortunately, this kind of bigoted viewpoint has become a "hallmark" (no pun intended) of leftist publications. These days, a family network like Hallmark can't even celebrate the month of Christmas without being attacked for simple casting choices. Can't the left take a break from being "triggered" and "offended" by everything, and allow us to celebrate Christmas in peace?!
