The feminists in the Liberal Party think it’s sexist to give women tools to protect themselves.
Conservative Leadership Candidate Kellie Leitch announced a policy to revoke the prohibition on using mace and pepper spray for self defence.
Kellie Leitch’s policy isn't concealed carry, but it's a step in the right direction. This is a policy I am all for. I am for macing rapists in the face as a matter of good policy.
But not the Liberals. They don't like Leitch's idea about letting people defend themselves. The Liberals think people, and women, especially be outsourcing their safety to the government.
The Liberal Status of Women Minister, Patti Hadju said:
“Ms. Leitch’s proposal is unrealistic and offensive to women across the country….Her misguided approach places the onus on women to defend themselves rather than focusing on addressing and preventing gender-based violence.”
You know what is offensive to me as a woman? Having some Liberal tell me I’m supposed to have a grown up discussion about gender based violence with my rapist instead of defending myself.
You know how I would address gender based violence? Mace.
Do Liberal feminists believe in my right to choose, or not? Because I want to choose self defence.
Dear feminists: Pick a lane, little ladies.
