When the Liberals passed the budget in April, they included $1.2 billion over five years in funding to address systemic immigration backlogs, and they made changes in legislation to prevent asylum seekers from making refugee claims in Canada if they have made similar claims in certain other countries, including the United States.
But as reported in the Post Millennial, according to statistics, since April 2017 (and until April 2019) just 3,150 of the asylum claimants in Canada had already applied for protection in the United States, under this new legislation. These individuals" would now be disqualified from obtaining a hearing with Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board.”
That was four months ago, and despite the big Liberal promises to get a handle on the chaos at the border, it's only gotten worse.
