Liberal hypocrisy: “It’s wrong to have gender separate washrooms for Canadians — but it’s ok to have gender apartheid swimming pools” for Muslims?

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On my latest show, Faith Goldy and I talk about how creeping sharia in Canada -- the left's insistence on accommodating Islam -- is revealing liberals' own hypocrisy regarding their own pet issues like equality, secularism and "diversity."

The two words are completely interchangeable.

This is simply one more example.

The Rebel readers are not ignorant, but how do we bring the discussion up to an acceptable level?
We could start by seeing you leave permanently.

Then again you would simply return under a different name.

How many names have you run under now?

If you say only the one you are running under now I think the world will get a good chuckle.

Your type are quite predictable.

I would be interested in knowing whether there is also gender segregation occurring in Islamic schools which, at least in Alberta, receive most of their funding publicly.

I have seen pictures of Islamic schools in the UK where girls must sit at the back of the class. I know for certain that in one school in Edmonton which is connected to a mosque, the mosque itself has separate men’s and women’s doors. Is this the case for the school as well? I would hope that our tax dollars are not being used in the furtherance of gender discrimination.

The textbooks in use at these schools must also be examined. In the UK, Islamic schools were using textbooks that condoned domestic violence. Do our ministries of education have a handle on this?

Jay Kelly they are well informed, Ron C is a liberal idiot who hates reality like you do. And have you read your comments, they rarely make sense or even match the story.

Drew Wakariuk says: "Ron C the story is about liberals not Muslims loser. "

That is our problem. Commenters on this site are ill-informed, and even if they have a valid opinion it is not expressed in a readable way.

Ezra Levant tries to slide a broad generalization into his commentary: "revealing liberals’ own hypocrisy regarding their own pet issues like equality, secularism and ‘diversity.’ "

If equality is a pet issue, you should quit The Rebel immediately. Equality, at its root, is what allows you and me to participate in the discussion. We have a voice from who we are as human beings.

Secularism is a bit more complicated. The so-called “liberals” embrace secularism. But we should remember that they are overwhelmingly of Roman Catholic background. It was their Popish faith that led them into a tolerance of other faiths and cultures. It could be argued that Roman Catholicism is what allows Ezra Levant to continue his mission as a Jew, even when his opinions seem lame.

Diversity is the term that Canadian moderates, and Roman Catholics in particular, seem to find acceptable.

It is not a pet issue. It is a bold claim that we as Canadians can move forward together.

David Houston:
You are right. In fact, since Trudeau is a proclaimed feminist, he will make sure none of this happens, right?
There will be so much chaos and fighting created with the struggle for LGBT power, Sharia power, feminist power….it will be an administrative disaster.
That’ll learn them.

Multiculturalism causes segregation. What an unexpected outcome.

Of course, managers of public resources start restricting non-Muslims from public facilities, just to avoid conflict, Canadians will learn the extent of the insanity that has taken over.

The best is yet to come.

The victimology matrix of cultural marxist identity politics is a spider web of deceit, hypocrisy, fear and loathing. If you realize that identity politics is used as a social device to polarize us into “groups” (or more correctly, social “tribes”) and keep us in constant conflict (thus incapable of a cohesive single civilian voice/will), then the seemingly open hypocrisy of identity politics makes sense.

Identity politics is a WEAPON, it is not a precise social science meant to make rational and logical sense. It is a weapon used to undermine the dominant culture/demographic and install a twisted dystopian legal system premised on the tyranny of the minorities.

Divide and conquer – a Machiavellian statecraft tool used by autocrats for millennia to subjugate and control large populations – it’s happening again.

Henry Reardon,

Having travelled through 10+ muslim countries or regions, my opinion is that female covering is strictly an option based upon culture. We were in countries that the women dressed Western and uncovered, countries where the hijab was a fashion accessory to t-shirt and tight jeans, through to near burkas. It was the culture of the country, not the religion, that dictated. However, women are expected to cover for mosque, but men also have a dress code. Interestingly, fully covered women were expected to uncover at overland border points between muslim countries, and not in special rooms.

David Houston: feminists typically – at least third wave feminists – NEVER criticize or oppose Islam (rarely do they ever utter a peep about FGM, for instance, because it’s primarily practiced by Muslims). It’s sacred to them, as it is to most progressives. One can speculate on the reasons for this, but my guess is that they simply hate Western civilization and values so much that they perceive Islam as an ally of sorts, a hammer that will destroy that horrible, patriarchal, Christian-Judaic, hateful white civilization. Of course, if this happens, the culture that will take over Western society is likely to be a whole lot uglier and miserable to live under, especially for women.

I have to say I find it unlikely that women Muslim women were only required to wear head coverings when they were outside their homes starting in Iran in 1979. I would be quite prepared to believe that this practice was revived in 1979 but I feel sure that such practices go back much farther in time than 1979. I’m not sure where to research Muslim fashion but I’ll bet that if you saw photographs in Muslim villages in earlier decades, you’d see similar use of head coverings.

They’re cowards. Its easy to attack civilized /pacified people that won’t fight back and you know in your heart are good people that will let you get away with anything. Attacking genuine evil? From what I’ve seen, too risky for the average SJW.

Not to worry the feminist movement will stop sharia law here. The same ones that want women earning the same as men and wanting more women CEO’s. Sharia law would be s huge move back from all the feminist movement has fought for. Why feminists haven’t been fighting back about these early incidents of sharia creep is puzzling
