Liberal MP: Harper and the media "have overheated the terrorism fear"

Brian LilleyArchive

According to Liberal MP Wayne Easter, PM Stephen Harper (along with an unlikely partner: the media) have "overheated the terrorism fear."

In contrast, I review the many very real Islamic terror threats Canada has faced recently, cases that are either before the courts right now, or examples of "radicalized" Canadians who have run off to join the jihad.

Don't Canadians have a right to be deeply concerned about the threats they see before their very eyes?

What terrorism, nothing has happened, anyone that has planned anything has been caught well in advance. Everything is fine and I feel completely safe. Terrorism does not work on me and will not effect my life.

Ron Voss, I don’t believe they are “blind” to the threat either. That’s why I said “I’m sure they know better”. Of course, that makes their political posturing even more sinister.

People are lining up to blame Harper for the terrorism with even more and more creative reasons for why this is so. For example, about a week ago Calgary Imam Syed Sohardwardy has come up with another bizarre reason. According to Sohardwardy, Ezra’s old ‘friend’ who took him to the Alberta Human Rights Commission for publishing the Danish cartoons of Mohammed, one of the factors contributing to the “rise” in terrorism is the Prime Minister’s use the word jihadists” to describe the terrorists!
And I was getting frustrated that Harper couldn’t bring himself to put the word “Islamic” in from of “jihadists”.
At least, unlike Easter, Sohardwardy acknowledges that there is terrorism and that it is on the rise.
Maurice, I agree with your assessment of the greatest threat. However, I would not agree that the liberal ‘progressives’ – cultural Marxists – are “blind” to the threat.

I disagree with Brian Lilley on one thing. I don’t believe radical Islamic terrorism is the greatest threat facing Canada, or any western democracy. If we’re willing to recognize that threat for what it is, we can deal with it, crush it, and create a national climate that makes it very difficult for that murderous ideology exist, or at least to find free expression. No, I think the greatest threat facing Canada, and all western democracies, is Liberal blindness to the threat. It’s the Trudeaus, Mulcairs and Obamas of this world who have earned their political stripes, not by facing reality or embracing objective truth, but by telling the people what they believe the people want to hear. It’s just a vote-getting ploy and I’m sure they know better. But if they ever form government, look out. You will see a rise in radical Islamic ideology like we’ve never dreamed of in our wildest imaginations. It won’t happen suddenly, it will happen by stealth and in stages. But it will be the Liberal, politically-correct, elitist Government that created the atmosphere in which this hideous ideology could flourish. That is why I believe the Liberal left is the greater threat; Radical Islam needs them to survive. If that ever happens, I hope I’m not around to see it. (problem is, I believe at some point it will happen….. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am)

No, Harper has not overheated any terrorism fear in Canada. He simply is telling the truth about terrorism where many leaders don’t, preferring to hide the truth as though this will make it all go away. The general public is more than aware of the hatred and violence that a large majority of theses muslims are spewing here and in other countries. The bigger the population of muslims in any country then the bigger the problem is from them. It seems as though any imam I have ever heard speak sounds like a carbon copy Hitler screaming to take over the world with islam/sharia law. And looking at the muslim followers of this hatred and violence in massive mobs all around the world, people had better take this threat seriously and not sit behind some desk pointing fingers because they are afraid of getting backlash from a behind the scene terrorist supported muslim community or not being politically correct.

Joan, Brian Lilley warned of Canada’s labour movement ramping up for the next federal election, training thousands of activists across Canada ahead of the October election.
One presumes that the orchestrated cross-country March 14th #StopC51 demonstrations are just the beginning.
“Big Labour’s plan to beat Harper is straight out of Obama’s playbook”:
What to do in response? As well as writing letters to the editor, etc., how about each one, reach one (EORO) armed, for example, with information gained from The Rebel?

And don’t forget to blame those RCMP and other officers that arrest the folks making nefarious plans and planting bombs that we are not supposed to be afraid of…they must take part of the blame for making us fearful (if we in fact are). Of course we don’t want to blame the people whose actions are the real cause of instilling fear….In fact, I am far less fearful knowing that my government is actually aware of what is going on and attending to what needs to be done. This does not instil fear in me but CONFIDENCE! And I am thankful that Harper has the wisdom to speak the truth when others would have him say that Muslim culture is PRO WOMAN…or anything other than what it is.

In court the holy book says:"O you who believe, when you transact a loan for any period, …. Two men shall serve as witnesses; if not two men, then a man and two women… “.” …God (thus) directs you as regards your Children’s (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females. (see also Sura 4:176)…Sura (4:176) “They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: God directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants … if there are brothers and sisters, (they share), the male having twice the share of the female.”

Then there is the bleeding obvious stuff we see every day…and they got all hot and bothered because Harper said the culture was anti-woman. Canadians need to stop being afraid to speak the truth when it is staring them in the face….we are so brainwashed against offending anyone here. I am very offended by the niqab and the way it is used. It is a cage…a prison. If a bird flies back into its cage, that doesn’t mean it prefers the cage. It is comparable to the Adult Elephant that thinks a little peg in the ground can still hold it because it was always tied to it when it was too small to move the peg. We are all so ‘controlled’ by their AGGRESSIVE TYRANNICAL culture and OUR OPPRESSIVE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Open your mouths and speak OUT LOUD while you still may…and stop hanging those, who are bold enough to speak the truth, out to dry. We need to stand shoulder to shoulder for liberty and what is right.

How many Canadians use alarm systems at home or businesses and for what ? Why politicians and stars go around with their arms body guard and for what ? Fear of something . They know that there is possibilities of being victims of some sorts or someone . More we know about Islam ( quranical Muslims) and what it stand for, seeing what they do on the globe at home or when they go to western countries shouldn’t we use an alarm system of some kind ? Trudeau knows that without their votes , he as a tiny chance to take the ultimate power he is looking for . Is it fear or just being aware and smart of what could happen ? Plainly it is just being smart , knowing that the enemies are at the door and what would happen if we let the wolf get in the barn. Trudeau allied with those who want to bring Canada down , a despotic 7Th century way of life. He is the dihmi of one coming caliphate ooops . We need to protect Justin from himself , because like a kid , he does not know that going across the Boulevard he can be hurt or kill. The world can be a dangerous place when you don’t know with wath or whom you dealing with this is why you have body guards. I guess !

Eileen, you are right. We can expect more and more of this as Election Day approaches.

Don’t underestimate the NDP with their nationally-organized anti-Harper protests campaign. Their candidates are on top of the issues and they are social media savvy. – the union-backed anti-Harper lobby – has vowed to back whatever candidate, Liberal or NDP, they think can win in any constituency.

In my riding, our long-time Conservative MP Barry Devolin is retiring, so the NDP has put forth a star candidate who is coming out impressively against the new CPC candidate, Jamie Schmale.

Maybe the Rebels and can organize some counter-protests. We need to go to all the anti-Harper protests with our pro-Harper chants and placards to show Canadians on the fence that we aren’t afraid to be seen in public.

And write letters to the editor of your local press. Make youtube videos. Whatever we can do, we must do to make sure Harper gets a majority, because without it, Mulcair and Trudeau may form an unholy coalition.

So, Liberal MP Wayne Easter, speaking out of the both sides of his mouth, blames PM Stephen Harper for the “terrorism fear”. The editor of our local weekly paper, who must have received a copy of the Liberal playbook, casting Harper as Orwell’s tyrannical ‘Big Brother’ re Bill C-51, also downplayed the notion of terrorism by putting the word ‘terrorists’ in single quotes. However, then, if there are any ‘terrorists’ about, he, like Easter, declared that it would be Harper’s fault because “many of their actions have been brought on by our government’s own aggressive (unspecified) agenda”. Nope, has absolutely nothing at all to do with the hateful ideology motivating and inspiring the ‘terrorists’, who apparently as ‘victims’ are justifiably only responding to Harper’s “aggressive agenda”. Sounds a lot like Newspeak, a product of the Ministry of Truth in Orwell’s 1984?

Every time I think JT has reached a new low on the “disgusting” scale, he surprises me by going even lower. And yet, I had a long time friend defend him the other day simply because he is “not” SH. If you are a died-in-the-wool SH hater then even JT looks good. It is to weep.

An atrocity anywhere is an atrocity everywhere
There are two kinds of Muslims in Canada. Basically the first group are those who want to get away from the orthodox barbaric verses of the Koran and live a ‘normal’ live that in the eyes of the orthodox would be considered apostates. This first group has essentially immigrated decades ago to get away from the Iranian revolution of the 1970’s. Their children are now in our schools and entering public life in the same way as the rest of immigrants and Canadians.
The second group of Muslims are the orthodox hate preachers who follow the first group to ensure the proliferation of the Koran. Many of these are Imams who preach radical messages in both English, French and Arabic in the mosques and who desire to build mosques and take over Canada. Their takeover plan is elucidated in the Koran and all over the internet. We ignore this at our dire peril.
The path forward for Canada is strictly maintain separation of the state from religions, and to push back to enforce secular laws, and not allow religious laws or practices eg. Sharia Law (in any way) to prevail.
The people of Canada do not need a law to tell them to remove your hat or scarf in a place where it is customary to do so, and remove the covering respectufully. It seems like there are some who need a law for everything, and as such they should be sent back to where they came from.
Here are some interesting links;
I also have to say, shame on some of the media for playing politics. It is a sad joke when they berate Mr. Harper who has passed laws banning ancient barbaric practices that ISIS and Islam do over there and some Muslims want to bring with them to Canada. These barbaric practices include FGM, Stoning, Honour Killing, halal, rape, sex slaves, multiple wives, beating women, making them cover head to toe in a black bag, denying democratic rights, denying freedom of speech, denying freedom of religion, denying pork, bacon, denying beer and wine, liquor, denying dogs, implementing Sharia Law….let’s speak to the truth and not liberal lies. Everybody is supposed to integrate, and everybody does integrate except for a few who want to carry on their ancient ways and play politics with our laws and customs. The niqab is just one example of the thin end of the wedge that will ultimately be driven to destroy Canada in the same way that other countries are being destroyed. The solution is simple; if they don’t like Canadian laws and customs, then go home.

By Charles Adler on March 16, 2015:

I promised my listeners that I would read the entire Trudeau speech before offering a comment, and I have done that. And while I had some bad vibes about what he had said last Monday night in Toronto based on media reports, the decibel level of bad vibration climbed. Justin Trudeau took a handful of political events connected to the Conservative Party and accused the government of create a climate of fear in this country, and in particular, a fear of Muslims.

First he spoke of a similarity to the fear that existed in the days of the Chinese head tax. In the 1800’s thousands of Chinese were brought into Canada and, working for 1/3 of what Canadians were making, built the Canadian Pacific Railway. They were useful. But once their work was done and they settled (most of them in BC), many of the locals weren’t happy about the Chinese families doing what families do, having children, and when fears were stoked, provincial laws restricted opportunity for the Chinese. The federal government then imposed what came to be known as a head tax allowing Chinese to come to Canada only if they could pay 50 dollars per person. That was big money at a time when many Canadians worked for far less than 50 dollars a month. Anyone who wants to Google what was being written and said in the Newspapers of the day about the Chinese will be astonished at how much hate this country had for honest, hard working families – families who built Canada and built the railway, the most important infrastructure binding our country from Atlantic to Pacific.

Trudeau also accused the Government of the day of creating the kind of climate of fear that allowed the Canadian public to support Japanese internment camps during World War II. Canada was at war with Japan. The Japanese Empire was an ally of Adolf Hitler. From 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, until 1949 four years after the end of the war, Canadians of Japanese heritage were taken from their homes to camps. Their property, including their fishing boats, were taken away from them and sold by the Canadian government with proceeds going to pay for the running of these camps. Canadians supported this because they feared the Japanese. And once again, if you do a Google search of what was being said in Canada at that time, you will find there did indeed exist a climate of fear.

Trudeau also referred to the ‘None is too many’ Policy, which was a phrase used by a member of the government during World War II when asked how many Jewish refugees Canada would take. Jews were restricted before, during, and after the war, from owning property in many parts of Canada, from working in many Canadian companies, from attending many schools in our country, and if they could attend, there were quotas. In the country’s busiest hospital, the Toronto General, for many years the quota said: One Jewish intern accepted. One per year. Does Justin Trudeau wish to investigate how many Muslim doctors are practicing medicine in Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver? Is there a policy of restriction because of some sort of fear?

My family knows firsthand what a real climate of state sponsored fear is about. My paternal grandparents had their property removed and were sent away where they had their lives removed by the government of the day in a country they loved and fought for. The picture that hung in my maternal grandmother’s bedroom till the day she died was of a 21-year old man in his Hungarian Military uniform. He fought for Austro-Hungarian Empire and was a patriot along with every member of his family, but when the climate of fear of Jews was stoked by the government of the day that aligned itself with Adolf Hitler, this proud patriot was executed, and not for treason – there was only 1 reason – he had a Jewish heart. More than half a million Hungarian Jews suffered the same fate in a climate of fear. My family and families of Chinese heritage and Japanese heritage and many others, need no instructions from Justin Trudeau on what a climate of fear feels like. And there is nothing in today’s Canada that resembles that Canada.

Justin Trudeau, when listing a handful of grievances about the Conservative Party, said to the audience, ‘this is not your father’s Conservative Party’. Interesting he should say that as the leader of the Liberal Party, as I would say to him, “This is certainly not your father’s Liberal Party. Your father would never have imposed a rule that says Liberals who are offside on an issue of moral choice of conscience of faith may not be nominated as Liberals, and may not sit in caucus. Your father’s Liberal Party would never do what you did. You want to talk about the climate of fear, Justin? How much fear do you stoke among those Liberals who have a different position than you on that issue of life and reproductive choice? It’s not the only issue where you discriminate and it is not something your father’s Liberal Party did. Your father, who was a Catholic, did not tell people they couldn’t be Liberals because they were of the Roman Catholic faith and could not in a vote of conscience, vote against their faith. Who does that in a democratic land? When has Stephen Harper said to a Muslim “You cannot run as a Conservative if on votes of personal conscience you are informed by your faith, and you cannot be a member of my caucus”?

You want to debate liberty and state sponsored fear? Debate me. When I saw you in the hallway of this building I am sitting in, you wouldn’t sit down with me for an interview. You simply flashed your smile and said “Hi Charles”. And that told me again that this is not your father’s Liberal Party, because he would happily sit down with me and exchange views. He was a democrat. I voted for him, as did my father and mother and grandmother. He was the MP for the riding we lived in. Your father’s campaign office was next door to Adler’s Tailor Shop. We were Liberal supporters. And I still support the Liberal values your father espoused, but not what you espouse Justin. You espouse division and derision. You want to tell my Muslim friends and neighbours and clients and listeners not to trust me because I support people like Jason Kenney. Why don’t you debate him Justin? I would be happy to have a little Justin vs. Jason in my studio on the subject and one question would be “Is the Government of Canada friendly or hostile to liberty?” The invitation is open to you.

But in the meantime, as your father would say, “cut the crap, eh”. Cut the crap about the Government of Canada creating an atmosphere of fear that resembles the days of Chinese head taxes and Japanese internment camps and ‘None is too many’ policies for Jews. By the way Justin, we have a million Canadians of Muslim faith living in Canada today. 1 out of every three has arrived here since the Conservatives took power away from Paul Martin’s Liberals in 2006. 1 out of 3 Muslims in Canada came here since 2006, well over three hundred thousand. How could that happen if the Conservatives are all about hating on Muslims? You can have your own opinions Justin, but facts, as your father would say, are a nettlesome thing. They drown your politics of fear.

You can try to pander to some members of the Muslim community by telling them that the Conservatives hate them. But so many of them came here because the Conservative Government doesn’t practice ‘none is too many’ politics. ‘None is too many’ is Justin Trudeau’s politics. How many people are allowed to run for the Liberal Party if on an issue of conscience they don’t side with Justin? None is too many.

More than 300 thousand Muslims came into Canada in just eight years under a Conservative government. You can give any speech you like Justin but you can’t give Canadian Muslims amnesia.

Ah, but this is what Liberals and NDP do. They deny, deflect, denigrate, defame, disparage, discount, dismiss, diminish, decry, and deprecate their opponents in an attempt to fool the Canadian public. Remember – an election is on the horizon, and, for many Canadians, safety and security are top issues. Expect more of the same in the coming months.
