A joint press conference last week in Toronto with the federal Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Mayor John Tory and Chief of Police, Mark Saunders, promised something big coming down the pike!
A CP24 report tells us:
“The federal government will give Toronto $1 million over the next three years to strengthen an intervention program for people believed to be at high risk of committing crimes or becoming the victims of crime.”
But what kind of crime are we talking about — guns and gangs, domestic abuse, impaired driving?
Later we find out the focus will be “radicalization and extremism,” but don’t ask what kind, because that would be impolite and “culturally insensitive.”
If the money the feds are offering up for “Focus Toronto” is anything to go by, I’m not sure Torontonians will be feeling safer now.
