It appears Trudeau’s Liberals are taking a page from Jean Chretien’s playbook and going back on their word, this time breaking promises made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
You’ll remember Chretien promised to reduce global emissions by 20% below 1988 values by 2005, but by 2006 emissions were 30% above the Kyoto target. And now the Trudeau Liberals have suggested they won’t reduce emissions beyond what the Harper Conservatives proposed.
I’m fine with the Liberals breaking their promise on emissions and especially a carbon tax. Nobody needs an additional guilt tax for something that hasn’t been proven and is still up for debate.
But Liberals sit on their snobby environmental awareness pedestal like they’re better than average Canadians and use it as an excuse to spend millions of government dollars to jet around the world, eat at fancy restaurants and sip champagne on the taxpayer dime.
Now that they’ve broken their promise to reduce emissions, what excuse can the Liberals use for their caucus of climate change warriors to continue spending outrageous sums of taxpayer dollars on luxury items?
Does this mean their costly trips in the name of climate change that spew exorbitant amounts of carbon are going to end? I doubt it.
The liberals will always find a route to our cash to fund their pet virtue signalling projects.
