The Liberals, ably assisted by an unchallenged platform provided by CBC, are getting ready to undo years of work by the Harper government to ensure our justice system puts victims first.
The latest examples of their effort to get back to worrying about criminals instead of victims, was their promise to get rid of a pile of mandatory minimum sentences so criminals wouldn’t spend too much time in jail, and now they want to make wiping convictions away cheaper and easier.
It seems to bother Liberals that criminals are serving longer sentences and being held to account by society for their crimes, but why? Stats reported in 2003 after a decade of Liberals running things under their preferred “ideology”, showed that 44% of convicts were back in jail within a year.
That’s not a good stat. But, Liberals think prison is about rehabilitating and they’re going to believe it no matter the facts. They’ll just erase the crimes from public view.
Recall that the push to shift the focus to victims came in 2010 after it was revealed that Graham James, the monster of a hockey coach that sexually abused boys across Canada, had been given a pardon in 2007 and with it, a chance to make more young victims.
Rather than helping victims, rather than focusing on those hurt by crime the Liberals appear set on taking us back to the good old days of a justice system run for the good of the criminals. Elections have consequences folks – don't say I didn't warn you.

The CBC actively campaigns for Justin Trudeau and the Liberals, so why should we subsidize them?
