Lorne Gunter: Ordinary people are never good enough for the enlightened elites

Ezra LevantRebel Commander

On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant ShowEdmonton Sun senior political columnist Lorne Gunter called in to talk about why the hectoring of ordinary people by the elite is contributing to populist politics.

With calls to eat bugs and to stop flying on planes handed down by people eating filet mignon and taking multiple private jet flights every week, it's not hard to see why the average person would get tired of the status quo.

Dessert sounds good. Cheesecake would be fine.

Politics is not for me. Prophecy is more my line.

Desserts. Although I am sure the desert would have been preferred to what actually happened to them.

Yup, an appropriate comparison, and boy did he get his just deserts. I wouldn’t want an end like that for our ‘little potato’, the bad reputation wouldn’t be worth it, but I sure wish Darwin’s law would take care of him for us.

Smooth segue away from Scheer. I hardly even noticed you were so gentle. You should go into politics Duke.

Socialists have always thought themselves better than the average blue collar worker. It has something to do with their god complex. Hypocrisy breeds a disconnect between their words and actions. Here is Justin…oops, i mean Nicolai Ceausescu’s wealth in comparison to the poverty he created for the average citizen. Go to the 27 minute mark:

“Trudeau has a Trudeau jet so I guess Scheer had to keep up.”
I did (below) but it was after my initial comment when I was looking at some twitter pages and there was a nice pic of Justin’s jet with ‘Trudeau’ painted across the side. You would expect it from the Laurentian elite Trudeau, but it doesn’t suit a conservative in my opinion. It kind of makes Scheer look desperate or like the dweeb trying to look like the cool guy. But I do wonder how any party leader can bank roll such an extravagance for a campaign. I want policy not planes.
Shove it Penson.

Liza, I noticed that the article you linked to only called out Scheer for his jet. Why not Trudeau? Media bias is my guess.

You’d think with all the doomsday scenarios being screamed at us to reduce our carbon footprint that these hucksters would realize how hypocritical this make them look. Maybe they just want the elitist experience before the world ends in 12 years.

Liz Rosie,

Justin may be a stooge, but at least he’s cruising for an easy re-election.

Why won’t Scheer explain why he refused to attend any Pride Parade?
I’ll run this by you again, Penson, since you seem a little slow on the uptake. He is obviously morally opposed to homosexuality and has no obligation to act like a Liberal windsock.

Why won’t Justin, Elizabeth and Jagmeet attend a Jesus in the City parade? Why is he willing to reopen the abortion debate?

And one more time for the morbidly dense among us: He is morally opposed to abortion. Kind of like Justin the fake Catholic (fake feminist/ fake ecologist/ etc. etc) in reverse. Justin is in favour of abortion so he won’t re-open the debate. Scheer is opposed to abortion and is entitled to re-open the debate. That is how political debate works, Penson.

What about Bernier and his alternative right cult?
There is no such thing as alt right. Define it please.

Will he renounce his xenophobic views?
No, he won’t, because he doesn’t have any.

Why do you support the stupidest national leader in world history? Why do you support the most traitorous, venal and corrupt PM in Canadian history? Why do you want to believe and promulgate lies?

Liz Rosie, What has your alternative right leader got? A portrait of Maurice Dupplesis on his wall? How about one of Presto Manning’s daddy, Ernest?

Canada has come a long way since the days of Union Nationale and Social Credit.

‘Trump paid for his own plane.’ He also used donations I’m sure. But I am suspicious of where Scheer is getting donations that can afford such an extravagance for a campaign trail. Between what he has promised to his new Islamist buddies and their huge community and the UN with the Paris Accord emissions promise he is holding to,(if he gets us out of the migration compact I will eat my hat) and just like junior, he is now perusing a UN seat, I just have to wonder. It just calls attention to what some are wondering. I don’t think its a very smart move. Then again his advisers and campaign manager have been striking out from the beginning.

Shut up Penson, you ambulance chaser. Your Justin is the worse bloody elitist stunned stooge Canada has eve seen.
commented 2019-09-11 18:11:22 -0400
I stand by my comment Muta Ween. Trump paid for his own plane. Trumps a privately wealthy man and voters always knew who he was. Who’s paying for Scheer’s plane? I don’t think its good for his image, it makes him look like an elite wannabe. We have enough of those. Yes, its a big country but what’s wrong with commercial? Anyway, its nothing to me, I don’t support him. A private jet seems totally unnecessary and as the article says, “Nothing says man of the people like a private jet.”

If I did support him I would probably make excuses for it, even if I thought it extravagant and really not done in Canadian politics.

Compared to his other offences the complaints about the private jet may be considered petty, but its yet another sign, to me anyway of what I am not interested in for a leader. I do not feel he will be any different from Trudeau. It will just be a different timeline. I have no interest in either of them winning. Trudeau disgusts me and Scheer won’t be worth the effort.. It will be a minority government — who’s is yet to be known. I want Bernier to get some seats and maybe have the balance of power. But whatever happens, I have made peace with it. Its out of our hands. The next four years are going to suck either way. I know that angers the loyalists, but I won’t vote for a party that is no longer conservative and pretend it will turn back into one after the election.

Donald Trump’s Boeing 757 had a lot to do with him winning the Presidency. He crisscrossed the nation back and forth back and forth while Hillary was too freaking tired to campaign. She had to rest.
While Hillary was resting and ready to leap to victory ,Trump’s BOEING 757 was landing in Grand Rapids Michigan around midnight for his final campaign address before people started voting in the morning.
Trump son Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania because he campaigned and his private jet made it possible.
I’m disappointed with you Liz.You are usually on the mark but this is pretty petty.
Scheer isn’t Trump but he has a big country to travel in and he has a paid off media and idiot unions to deal with .
We need every break imaginable in this election and we don’t need fussing over trivia to add to the load.

Speaking of ‘let them eat cake’….
Question, since when did the opposition fly around in their own private jet when campaigning? I guess this is where donations go. Sheer must have some big patrons because I know he didn’t manage it on the 50 bucks he tricked me out of when he first was installed as opposition leader. What happened to buses for the campaign trail or commercial flights.

“Nothing says man of the people like a private jet.”

It amazes me that people are still so stupid as to fall for vote buying. It’s OUR money these politicians are flinging around like candy at a parade. How I wish there was a test to take before one can vote. That would weed out most stupid people.

I continue to sit back and laugh out loud at anyone who has for the last 45 years been living the lie, and believing that they have only 10 years left to save the planet by adopting ANY of the ideals preached by the elites, while never wondering why the naggers and preachers never lead by example. Now that we are down to the short strokes and are in the midst of a, for sure (this time) “real climate crisis”, I am cranking up the heat, chilling in front of the AC, taking long leisurely drives in my SUV, and renewing my pledge to continue my carnivorous life style, all the while slugging back spirits and wines I like.
Now, if I could get someone else to pay for it – I too would be an elite.
